United States of a Movie

A musical adventure featuring The Klan, a musical, vampire adventure featuring The Klan and an Oscar winning whodunit featuring racists - we have to be honest, on paper, Mississippi sounds like it's got it's problems but BOY are these movies absolute bangers.

3 movies that go down better than Hailee Steinfeld's saliva after she aggressively spits in your mouth

We head back to The Big Easy once again because how can you make a Louisiana movie without using New Orleans? A city that's great for racial profiling, muggings from a ripped Stanley Tucci and hunting humans for sport. Never fear there's slow mo galore, Wilford Brimley being an absolute badass and JCVD punching a snake

We head back to Iowa to see if we can find a home run to challenge the legendary Field of Dreams. This week the USofAMovie guys went slow and introspective with some powerhouse performances in What's Eating Gilbert Grape but there's a dark horse coming in slow - really, really slow with 'The Straight Story'. A real movie about a real guy that's really a Disney David Lynch movie... for real

How'd you like THESE apples? After pahking the cah at Hahvahd yahd the fellas went full Boston by bringing 'The Depahhhted' to the party along with the FLAWLESS Irish accents of 'Blown Away', while Will decided to be a 'basic bitch' and slapped down the movie that created blockbusters - 'Jaws'.

When you think Pennsylvania you think Philadelphia, and when you think Philadelphia any normal person thinks 'Rocky' - unfortunately for you nobody on this podcast is a normal person which is why we have Harrison Ford going full Amish, Tom Cruise playing a 6ft 4 monster and a movie that manages to end up being the greatest spoof of itself ever made - 'Sudden Death'. Join the USofAMovie team as they delve deep into 'Big Amish', being Werner Herzog's grandson and Jean Claude Van Damme's flawless Pennsylvania accent.

This week we have a close encounter with legendary westerns. 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' delivers the kind of quips and adventures you'd expect from a Shane Black movie with a side order of Burt Bacharach while 'Unforgiven' couldn't be more different with a who's who of Oscar legends delivering a tour de force of realism and violence... it's almost like we're a real podcast or something

Things. Get. Weird.

Last time around 'Insomnia' took the crown but this week left us with a fever dream. We had one movie with all the pieces that don't add up to a whole with the perfectly fine 'Mystery, Alaska' but then boy, oh boy did things go off the rails by careening down the rails in the truly bonkers 'Runaway Train' - the best train based, Soviet style, Japanese, art-house, Shakespearean, Oscar nominated action movie ever made

Pahk your cah in Hahvahd yahd, my friends as we pit three Boston movies against each other. This week's newcomers are BOTH first time screenplays, that feature world class stand up comedians, who's scripts were the hottest things in Hollywood - but only one would go on to acclaim while the other obtained dubious 'cult' status

It's schlocky 90's action up against edgy 80's comedy and old school 50's horror. We head back to Pennsylvania to be confused by how Sudden Death won, amazed with what you can get away with in the 80s and bemused by 'The Blob'
