What is the one thing you seek most in life? Is it wealth? Is it prosperity in everything you do? Is it to be in the best health? Could is be to have a certain possession? In the movie The Lord Of the Rings, Return of the King, we get to see into the life of one of the main characters. Gollum, who once was a man, was so entranced by the ring, he sought it with his life. It literally transformed the man. I recently read, “what you seek after is what controls you.” In 1Peter, he calls believers to be sober-minded - locked in - and to set their hope on Christ and His promises. Today, special guest, Don Wren, leads us into what seeking Christ is about.

If it were up to us, we will fill every hour of our day with “things to do” and run ourselves ragged into the arena of burn-out. Is that what God intended for humanity? What if there was a time He created for us to experience rest?

This week, Senior Pastor, Heath Bauer is taking us through a new sermon series called “Boundaries of Freedom.” If we all can agree on one thing, boundaries help us experience freedom in a heathy environment. When we take those boundaries away, our freedoms are risk of being taken away. Step back with me to the Old Testament in the Bible. When the people of Israel were freed from slavery in Egypt, they were free. They no longer had to follow the rule of Pharaoh. In their freedom, God gave them 10 boundaries that would help them grow closer to Him and lead others around them to a God who saves. As we read often, Israel struggled with their freedom of worship and found themselves drowning in idol worship. What happens when idol worship becomes our freedom of choice?

This week we celebrate Father's Day! Being a father carries with it a great responsibility. A father is the spiritual leader of the home. We could call this the “point man.” Point man is often used in military circles. This is the soldier who goes ahead of the patrol team. This person guides, warns, protects, leads, provides crucial information, and they are willing to lay down their life so their team makes it through. The point man helps determine the success of the mission. Fathers determine the success of the family. To all the Dad’s out there, it’s time to take point, and lead our families the way God calls us to.
