In this second part of the series, we will look at the root causes of perfectionism. Why does it turn out as a pattern for some people and what are the underlying beliefs behind perfectionism?
I will also give you some tips and tricks on what I do to combat it, what you can do yourself, and share success stories and amazing results from one of my clients, Emma, when she challenged perfectionism and started living life more according to her own values.

Last week I had a discovery call with a woman leader who felt that her perfectionism was keeping her stuck in procrastination, stress & performance anxiety.
She was never good enough in her own eyes and the fear of failure stopped her from taking on projects that she wanted, because if she did, and failed, she felt that she couldn’t live with herself.
So it was better to not do it at all, because then she did not risk anything.
I asked her;
What are you longing for?
And she paused, and said,
“I want to feel peace. I want to be able to enjoy life more. To be present. To not always be striving, to be able to let go of things and not be so demanding of the people around me. To have more fun. And to not always over-work stuff until the last minute.”
You have no idea how common this is, so that’s why I want to bring it up.
This woman has everything you could wish for on paper, and still feel so self-critical on the inside, pushing herself like crazy.
Maybe you even recognize yourself in some of this?
This is an episode series in two parts.
In this first one, I will talk about what perfectionism is, and the real cost of it on your health, relationships, and performance.
I will go into three different kinds of perfectionism and how those might play out in your life.
In the second part I will talk about some of the root causes, how I work with my clients to reduce their perfectionism, and some things you can do yourself.

Today, you will meet my former client Ellen Dieden Sandell.
Two years ago, when she reached out to me, she was feeling demotivated, overwhelmed and on the verge of burnout.
As a high-achieving women leader and HR Director at a scale-up, her life was full on with very little time for reflection, rest & recovery.
She was constantly doubting herself and her capabilities and feeling that she was not in the right place, but had no idea what to do differently.
This is her story of our journey together and to the place where she is now, living her dream life as a coach and entrepreneur.
We cover how she discovered her true passion, how she overcame her fears, limiting beliefs, resistance, regained her strength and energy and started her own company.
We also talk about our shared passion for women’s health and how that was big part of her healing journey and the huge role the coaching program played in her transformation.
This episode is filled with golden nuggets on how to incorporate self-care into your daily busy life, things you can do to balance your hormones, and a big dose of inspiration to what’s possible when you find your own path.

What is your relationship with money?
I had the pleasure of speaking with Pingis Berg-Hadenius.
Pingis is a serial entrepreneur, CEO, author, podcaster, board professional and economist who has founded several companies within e-commerce and fast-moving consumer goods.
Today she is running Economista, which is Sweden’s largest community for women related to personal finances.
Already as an eight-year old Pingis knew she wanted to work with money in some way, playing bank with her best friend.
Now she is empowering hundreds of thousands of women to take control over their finances and through that, their lives.
Pingis and I spoke about juggling career with two small kids, sleep, exercise, confidence, saying no, setting boundaries, values, what she needs to stay healthy and a lot more.
We also touched upon the role mentors and coaches have played in her life and career and smart hacks for investments and spending.

Looking for quick, easy & powerful hacks to health & peak performance?
You've got it.
In this episode you will learn;
That's because your breathing can signal to your body and mind that a lion is chasing you and you need to run for your life or signal that everything is fine and that you are safe.
How you breathe creates an immediate response in your body, resulting in several chemicals being released.
This impacts your ability to think, make decisions, learn, problem-solve, remember, understand, and be nice to others; which can be critical in high-stakes situations.
Your breathing also affects your stress levels, sleep, immune system, digestion, and blood pressure.
I know that you have a lot on your plate as well as high goals and ambitions, and also that you often feel stressed and anxious about all the things going on in your life.
That’s why I want to teach you different hacks & tools that you can use during your busy workday to quickly change the way you feel and improve your performance & focus at the same time.
You can see it as you gain mastery over your mind.

What is it that makes it possible to continuously perform at a high level, and feel good doing so?
Ever since my burnout more than 10 years ago, I have been thinking about the topic of Sustainable High Performance.
My own burnout experience, plus my passion for health & wellbeing, psychology, performance, brain science, and personal development is what lead me to become a coach. I love to support ambitious women leaders to live great lives and have fantastic careers without burning themselves out.
Because life will throw you challenges all the time, at home and at work, but how can you stay resilient in that rollercoaster?
There are things you can control and things you can’t, but let’s focus on the things you can control! Because doing so, will also support you to surf the rest of the things.
In this episode, I’ve compiled 12 key points into 4 main pillars, which I also have included in my new program that I call Sustainable High Performance.
I can’t wait to share it with you.

It’s easy to believe that the harder you work and the longer hours you put in, the more successful you become.
Lise Alm, shares times in her career when the opposite was true. When she started saying no, setting boundaries, managing expectations and leaving work at a reasonable time, her performance doubled which was widely acknowledged around her.
Lise is a lawyer, business developer, angel investor, and board professional with a mixed background from the tech and start-up world. Together with another power-woman, she runs ThinkAloud, a newly started consultancy firm that advises on strategy and operations for companies in change.
In parallel, she is a member of several UN-led expert groups with a focus on the global digital economy, is co-founder and chairperson of a bunch of companies, and has held roles such as M&A lawyer, legal counsel at Spotify, Chief Strategy Officer at Worldfavour & Head of BD at the SCC Arbitration Institute.
She’s been around, to say the least.
I truly loved my conversation with Lise as we discussed sustainability in a high-performance world, her zone of genius, her mindset, and her strategies when it comes to taking on new challenges. She also shares career advice that turns things a bit upside down and a lot more.

Your reality is highly influenced by your belief systems.
And this is both positive and negative!
Positive if your beliefs support you in your life and where you want to go and negative if they hold you back and lead to destructive behaviors.
Beliefs are a fascinating topic we will look at today in this episode because they are fundamental to your success and wellbeing.
And why is that?
Because what you believe shapes every aspect of your life.
From the way you interact with people to the risks you take, and even how you respond to challenges.
Your beliefs are like the software running in the background of your mind, quietly but powerfully influencing every action you take.
What if I told you that by simply becoming aware of and reshaping these beliefs, you can unleash a version of yourself that's more powerful, confident, and successful?
As a coach and wellbeing specialist, I've seen incredible transformations, all starting with a shift in beliefs.

Do you want to leverage your strengths, skills, and passions? I thought so 😉 👇
So many women walk around feeling that they lack a sense of purpose in their life or career.
They push and grind in their job, not feeling satisfied (or maybe exhausted) and wondering what the point is of it all. And self-doubt and low confidence start to creep in!
In this week's episode, we dive into the topic of purpose/Ikigai, and how finding that can boost your confidence, and happiness and give clues to a whole new direction in life!
Ikigai is a Japanese concept meaning "reason for being" or "life purpose" and is awesome.
This might be the big missing key for you to dare to take a leap in your life and career. And improve your health.

Imagine that you had a power that could shift your mindset, your thoughts, and your energy to more positive and empowering ones, in a matter of minutes.
Would this give you a sense of being in control?
And make you bounce back from challenges quicker?
I believe it would.
The good news is that this power is accessible to you, and it’s a technique called reframing.
This morning I was out walking in the woods, as I usually do.
First I was a bit bitter and tired and not in a great mood because I have gotten way too little sleep lately due to being sick myself and also having sick kids.
Then I realized something.
I have a choice here!
The choice to dig an even deeper hole or to see this situation as an opportunity to learn something or make a change of some kind.
I coached myself in this very moment, and you can do the same!
This is reframing in action.
In this episode, we will look into this powerful tool and I will also teach you how to do it yourself.
I’m pretty sure you will find it very handy both at work and in your personal life.
