Both the book and the movie “ The Mauritanian” depict in gruesome details the horrific experience of Mohamedou Ould Slahi in Guantanamo prison and in other countries for 20 years. However, when talking to Mohamedou, I wanted my conversation with him to focus on “ the person” he is because he is more than his experience. We talk about darkness, hope, compassion and what it means to be a kind person.
