After a brief hiatus (life, amiright?), we're back. Some of us read L. Ron Hubbard's Ole Doc Methuselah, and one of us just read Wikipedia. We talk a little bit about the book but mostly about all the cults we almost joined.
Ashleigh, Lauren and Katie piece together what happened in this book since their reading/listening attempts were half-assed at best. They laugh, cry, and eat drugstore Valentine's Day candy. Katie and Lauren are horrified by Ashleigh's war on pizza.
We celebrate the January by reviewing a book that came out two weeks ago, New Year's Steve. We talk about awkward first dates on holidays, online dating, face lasers--and occasionally about this very forgettable novel (which some of us secretly loved). Also, Ashleigh refers to an epilogue as a prologue in the podcast, is aware of this, and is deeply embarrassed.
Katie and Lauren have equipment issues; Ashleigh barely holds it together. We announce our next book for our belated New Years Eve episode.
For those experiencing holiday withdrawal, behold our belated Christmas episode, where we review the "clean romance novel," Her Christmas Handyman: Gingerbread Inn Book 1 by Laura Ann (no last name, which is always a good sign). Eyebrow pumping, nougat, mysterious thefts and a gingerbread competition that never happens. Happy post-Holidays with a truly unreadable book.
We live pick our Christmas-themed read for our next episode - Her Christmas Handyman - by Laura Ann. Ashleigh likes the mail order bride themed books, Lauren educates us on the lore of "Krampus" and Katie is played by Lauren's mom.
We read Transformed for Thanksgiving by Eric Filler and our lives were never the same again.
Lauren, inspired by our last read, becomes both a Private Investigator and Kathy Bates. We announce the next book we will be reading - a Thanksgiving themed 34-page novella just in time for the holiday.
For Unreadable Book Club's first episode, Ashleigh, Katie, and Lauren review Pumpkin Roll by Jose S. Kilpack, just in time for Halloween. It’s everything you (n)ever wanted in a weirdly niche, early 2010s combination of Chicken Soup for the Soul and Murder She Wrote.
Grab you napkins and fork, and get ready to dive in to this "culinary mystery."
