3669 Dave Walker Part 1 (Tragedy, Doubt, Prayer) Dave Walker’s brother died leaving a pregnant wife, who also died suddenly while the child was a baby. Dave and his wife Penny took in the girl, Deirdre, and then another death in the family followed. Dave was convinced God was just an onlooker who didn’t care about the lives of humans. Then, after nursing a man back to health following a horrific accident, he saw that even as a doctor, he hadn’t changed the man’s life. This motivated him to seek God until he learned that God was the only one who had the power to bring true wholeness and healing to himself and his patients. He started praying for his patients, and saw the difference it made on many different levels.

While her life straightened out, her boyfriend’s did not, and his arrest put her new beginning in jeopardy. She found friendship and help from church family and her boyfriend even accepted Jesus. But her hope faded as she witnessed him turn back to drugs and alcohol. She cut ties with him and ended up dating and marrying an associate Pastor and starting a family. She shared her true story in the book Free Indeed, and now she works in ministry to reach people lost in the same darkness she was in.

Eventually, she pleaded with God for help and for the first time in her life, Katie experienced hope...but she wasn't out of the woods yet.
