Adam Charles Emery is a convicted murderer who along with his wife Elena disappeared shortly after he was released on bail on November 10th 1993. To this day, Adam Emery has not been found.

In February 2010, convicted murderer and suspected mafia hitman and drug runner Graham Potter missed a court appearance in Melbourne, seemingly going on the run. Apart from a single sighting in a small town in far north Queensland, Potter has not been seen since.

51 year old Stephen Michalak was prospecting for silver ore in Falcon Lake Manitoba on May 20th 1967 when he had a close encounter that is still a matter of great debate over 50 years later.

Ronald Ramm was a curt man with ties to the criminal network in Larvik. He was a rich widower, who often boasted about having a lot of cash and gold at his house. He lived in Rødbergsvingen 11 in a town called Larvik.

43 year old Dian Harlin and her 51 year old Husband Hugh Harlin lived in Morro Bay, California. Hugh had been born there and worked as a fisherman while Dian was known locally as the 'Dog Lady' as she was almost never seen without her dogs and had very few human friends.

In July 2015 a family of three (father, mother and 12-year-old daughter) disappeared from a village near Hamburg, Germany. The father was later found dead. The police believe he died by suicide. Mother and daughter are missing till this day. The overall circumstances can be described as unclear and strange.

On April 20th 1977, around 4:30 A.M., Harriet Carr, who lived at 940 North Olney Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, noticed her garage door was slightly ajar and went to investigate. She entered the garage to find her husband, 62-year-old Melvin “Ted” Carr, dead of carbon monoxide poisoning.

So many true crime documentaries just focus on the story itself, less so the impact of the crime. We meet the players, find out how our victim was killed, and go on a hunt looking for justice. But we sometimes forget these are real people we’re talking about. Real people who were taken away from their families too soon, were abused and attacked before their deaths, and lived real lives.
