This episode is one that I have sat with recording for a while and one that comes with a trigger warning. I give no details, but do talk about the topic of SV, CSA and SI. I was very careful with my words, but please know what space you are in and if this is something that will be beneficial for you right now or not.
If you are someone who has a loved one who is in a situation like this, this may be beneficial for you. If you are someone who is in recovery or had experience with this, it also may be beneficial.
For the longest time, I thought I wouldn’t ever share this publicly because it is incredibly vulnerable and I know that once you put things on the internet, please feel entitled to have opinions to things you say even if you are just sharing your lived experience. Given how we continue to hear stories about DV and given the responses I see from people; it is so clear to me that so many people do not understand the nature and cycles of these relationships. I’ve done enough work to know that what people say have nothing to do with me, but please be so conscious of what you say to people around you regarding this topic as you NEVER know who ma be in an unsafe situation. Nobody knew accept for a few people who were close to me. Some people are very good at masking and hiding it. Part of what keeps people in the cycles, is shame. We see how people talk about us sriviros. We see how the abusers are almost already protected and defended.
This is my story, this is how I saved myself and what I have been doing to help heal. Thank you for being here and for listening.
This week’s episode is coming from the road. Sharing some wise words a friend shared with me and the importance of time spent alone with yourself.
Do you ever feel like healing is so overwhelming because you believe you need to be fully healed to experience life? In this week’s episode I talk about chasing healed and how it will continue to holds back from living life and experiencing life to its fullest. Shifting your perspective and understanding that we are healing, we are not healed. Healing is a part of life that we integrate in and ebb and flow through it as life throws things at us. Most importantly I talk about how you are worthy of love and happiness just as you are.
Next week I will be sharing a written post on the impact of starting my day with a nervous system walk. This lead to me creating a Hot Girl Walk Playlist. I will be creating a monthly playlist. These playlists will range between 30 and 45 minutes and will take you on a journey with a warm up, brisker walking and a cool down. I wanted to give you something to encourage you to get up and out and move your body.
I hope this episode leaves you reflecting on your own journey and being able to give yourself more compassion, understanding and accountability. See you next week!
In this week’s episode I talk about the spectrum of coming back home to ourselves that we experience in life. From big rebirths to just simply connecting to yourself each day and calling all parts of yourself back home. Life has a way of pulling us in every direction and sometimes that results in us going outside of ourselves to meet those requirements, to avoid discomfort, etc. Whatever your journey is, make sure you meet yourself with kindness, compassion, accountability and a knowing that life is a process of continually finding your way back to your path.
My best thoughts come to me on my nervous system walk. It allows me to process through everything I feel and the words just start to flow in a way they don’t when I am just sitting. I’ve been reflecting a lot on how we are not taught how to grieve. There isn’t a handbook or an Idiot’s guide to grieving. The reality is that grief is just a part of life. We look at it as something that comes and goes, but what happens if we just allow it to be a part of life like any other emotion. We spend so much of our lives resisting feeling that things that are painful and uncomfortable. They are uncomfortable fora reason. Even if we know how to sit with them and feel them, it doesn’t make them less painful, we just learn how to sit and hold space. We learn how to listen and feel. I spent so much of my life thinking that I was feeling when really I was just intellectualizing. Let me tell you, actually feeling emotions hits different. It is overwhelming at times, but those emotions don’t go anywhere if we don’t feel them. They stay in our body, they send us signals. Grief is one of those things that until we give space for it to be felt, it remains there. Sometimes it’s quiet, but sometimes it is loud and when it is loud, the things that you learned to do to tune it out aren’t as effective anymore. There comes a time when we either choose to get very honest with ourselves, sit in the grief, feel it, cry it out, scream it out, punch it out or we continue to push it down. The things is, when we continue to push it down it also stunts our ability to feel other emotions in their full capacity. This includes joy, excitement, the depth of love.
When we give ourselves space to grieve, we also give ourselves space to be messy, to be human, to experience the beauty of how love has had a place in out lives. I hope that this episode helps you to reflect on your own grief process.
The number one thing I hear from people is “When are you going to start a podcast?” or “You should start a podcast.” It always seemed like such a big undertaking… the time, the production, scheduling, organizing, etc. This eclipse season has me deeply reflecting on where I hold myself back. What areas of my life do I constantly have excuses for reasons why not to. The reasons why to quickly fade to the back. Fear of rejection will keep us stuck forever, at some point you have to feel that fear and do it anyway which is exactly what creates nervous system flexibility.
So here we go!
