  • Craig 'Wilco' Wilcockson: Jet Air Racer & Warbird Pilot
Welcome to Episode 7 of Up and Away, the Australian Aviation Podcast!
This week we are having a chat to jet air racer and warbird pilot Craig 'Wilco' Wilcockson!
Wilco has flown and has become familiar with a long list of amazing historic warbird and jet aircraft. We talk about what it's like to fly these planes, how you could get into flying them yourself, and his day job as an avionics technician with the RAAF. We also talk about his recent experience competing in the jet class at the Reno Air Race, where he was flying as low as 50 feet and at over 500 miles per hour! Crazy!
We have created a special blog post to go along with this episode to show you all the cool aircraft we discuss and give you a little more background to them.

We have a chat about her journey up until the famous battle with Ansett, including working as a flight instructor and air-racing! We also discuss her career at three major airlines spanning two continents, how we can inspire women to pursue a career in aviation, as well as her passion for flight safety.

  • Tim Howes: Bush Pilot
Welcome to Episode 5 of Up and Away, the Australian aviation Podcast!
On this week's episode we have bush pilot Tim Howes!
Tim doesn't like airports, or runways at all! His style of flying sees him landing in places you wouldn't ever imagine seeing a plane. We discuss his story of taking the affordable path into aviation, and how it can be inexpensive for you too. We delve into what bush flying is exactly, and what you need to do and know to keep yourself safe.
We would like to note that the style of flying described in the Podcast can only be achieved safely through dedicated training and experience. It's also important to note, some of these highly-skilled maneuvers, including partial water take-offs and landings are not permitted in Australia. So ensure you obey rules and regulations outlined by CASA, and stay safe!
