In a Zoom meeting with Sri Ramana Center, Houston, on 6th November 2021 Michael James discusses verse 29 of Upadēśa Undiyār:

பந்தவீ டற்ற பரசுக முற்றவா

bandhavī ḍaṯṟa parasukha muṯṟavā

பதச்சேதம்: பந்த வீடு அற்ற பரசுகம் உற்றவாறு இந்த நிலை நிற்றல் இறை பணி நிற்றல் ஆம்.

Padacchēdam (word-separation): bandha vīḍu aṯṟa para-sukham uṯṟa-v-āṟu inda nilai niṯṟal iṟai-paṇi niṯṟal ām.

English translation: Standing in this state, thereby experiencing supreme bliss devoid of bondage and liberation, is standing in the service of God.

Explanatory paraphrase: Standing [remaining, abiding or steadfastly being] in this state [of beginningless, infinite and indivisible sat-cit-ānanda], thereby experiencing supreme bliss devoid of [the dyad or duality of] bondage and liberation, is standing in the service of God [or is standing as God directed].

Michael also discusses the Sanskrit version of this verse, namely verse 29 of Upadēśa Sāraḥ:

बन्ध मुक्त्यती तंप रंसुखम् ।

bandha muktyatī taṁpa raṁsukham

पदच्छेद: बन्ध मुक्ति अतीतम् परम् सुखम् विन्दति इह जीवः तु दैविकः.

Padacchēda: bandha mukti atītam param sukham vindati iha jīvaḥ tu daivikaḥ.

English translation: The divine soul certainly experiences here the supreme happiness that transcends bondage and liberation.

While discussing the meaning and implications of this verse and answering questions about it Michael also discusses various other passages from Bhagavan’s writings, including Upadēśa Undiyār, Uḷḷadu Nāṟpadu, Nāṉ Ār?, Śrī Aruṇācala Akṣaramaṇamālai, Śrī Aruṇācala Navamaṇimālai, Śrī Aruṇācala Aṣṭakam and Āṉma-Viddai.
