The high court sitting in Palm Ridge, on Gauteng's East Rand, has found 22-year-old self-confessed sex worker murderer, Sifiso Mkhwanazi guilty of the murder and rape of 6 sex workers. Mkhwanazi was arrested and admitted to killing the sex workers and hiding their bodies in his father's workshop in Johannesburg between April and October 2022. During Mkhwanazi's trial, the defense argued that he and the women engaged in consensual sex, alleging that he only murdered the sex workers in fear, after a disagreement over payment. A motion of no confidence against Ekurhuleni executive mayor, Sivuyile Ngondwana of the African Independent Congress, is expected to be heard in the Ekurhuleni Metro council today. The motion comes amid a row over the auditor-general's report into the city's finances, with council members accusing the mayor and MMC of Finance Nkululeko Dunga of hiding the report.  ActionSA says it is confident that its motion will be successful. Protests earlier broke up in the eThekwini CBD as both the Economic Freedom Fighters and local hostel residents took to the streets over service delivery. The EFF used their own private vehicles to collect refuse pilling the streets while residential blockaded parts of the city with burning tyres. The Manzini Magistrate's Court in the Kingdom of eSwatini has postponed to March 20, the case against two brothers accused of involvement in the murders of South Africans Kiernan "AKA" Forbes and his friend Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane. Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande were arrested in the capital of Mbabane three weeks ago after Forbes and Motsoane were gunned down outside a restaurant in Durban in 2023. The Ndimande brothers are also accused of the killing two other people in KwaZulu-Natal between February and March in the same year. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says while it regrets the unauthorised disclosure of the party candidate lists for the African National Congress (ANC) and uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, the commission remains capable and credible enough to hold the upcoming 2024 general elections. The IEC earlier announced the dismissal of an employee linked to the leak of the names on the lists for both parties. The Inkatha Freedom Party says its 13-point-plan is best suited to tackle the triple challenges of crime, corruption and poverty in the country. The party launched its 2024 elections manifesto at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban at the weekend. The defence counsel in the Senzo Meyiwa trial has once again told the High Court in Pretoria that none of the alleged confessions by two of the five men accused in the soccer star's murder, were obtained voluntarily. Sipho Ramosepele was making his closing submissions on evidence led in the trial within the trial where five men are accused of gunning down the Bafana Bafana player in Johannesburg in October 2014. The defence is challenging the admissibility of the alleged confessions by Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter, Pearl Magubane.

The alarming number of unemployed doctors has thrust South Africa's health system back into the spotlight. In his State of the Province Address, Free State  Premier Mxolisi Dikwana announced that in January a total of 217 medical interns and community service professionals that include dieticians, radiographers, audiologists and physiotherapists were employed. African National Congress secretary general, Fikile Mbalula says the party has full confidence in the credibility of the Independent Electoral Commission despite the leakage of the ruling party's national and provincial candidates' list on Friday. Mbalula was addressing members of the media from the party's headquarters, in Luthuli House in Johannesburg, on Monday. Suspended Judge, Tintswalo "Nana" Makhubele has requested an adjournment of the proceedings looking into her conduct. Makhubele is appearing before the Judicial Conduct Tribunal in a misconduct probe lodged by civic organisation, #UniteBehind. It alleges that she violated the separation of powers principle by being both a judge and Chairperson of state owned company, Prasa. Zoleka Qodashe reports...
