Terror is continuing to reign in Ratanda township in Heidelberg, in Gauteng as members of the Ratanda Spaza Business Forum have allegedly gone into hiding to escape assassins who have killed four of their colleagues in just over a month. Members of the Forum have come under fire after the organization played a vital role in reallocating dozens of spaza shops to various community members. The Founder of the Western Cape Missing Persons Unit, Candice van der Rheede has warned political parties against using the disappearance 6-year-old, Joslin Smith for political gain. This follows a massive search operation involving various police units, the navy, and community members that has been underway for the past two weeks. van der Rheede says while it is important to shine a light on this matter, the cases of other missing children should also be getting the same attention. She spoke to Sakina Kamwendo on the of missing children in the Western Cape, which she says has been a long standing a problem.

A group of concerned community members have begun a splinter search for missing six-year-old, Joslin Smith of Saldanha Bay, in the Western Cape. Joslin went missing over two weeks ago after her mother left her in the care of the mother's boyfriend. Today's search is along Tabak Bay Beach where a shoe was picked up early this week. Four people have been taken in for questioning in relation to her whereabouts. Community member, Vernon Vraagom, is leading the search on the beach, and says the community initiated the search following the alleged discovery of a blue flip-flop. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter in Diazville, in Saldanah Bay, Mlamli Maneli.

Members of the Diazville community in the Western Cape have vowed to intensify their search for missing six-year-old, Joslin Smith from Saldanah Bay. This follows a recent announcement by police that they have taken people in for questioning, adding that the investigation into Joslin disappearance has gained momentum and that arrests are imminent. Joslin went missing over two weeks ago and speculation has been rife on social media platforms with local authorities pleading for calm and for people to stop spreading false news around the incident. SABC News reporters in Saldanha Bay earlier caught up with PR councilor, Vernon Vraagom ahead of a planned search to a nearby beachfront.

Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy,  Gwede Mantashe says South Africa's energy challenges are much bigger than load shedding. The minister went on to say that the country must use a combination of technologies to eliminate energy poverty. Mantashe was addressing the Africa Energy Indaba Conference at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. 

The case against two men arrested in connection with the 2023 murders of South African rapper, Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and his friend, Tebello "Tibz' Motsoane has been postponed pending the lodging of a formal extradition application. Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande made a brief appearance in the Manzini Magistrate's Court in the Kingdom of eSwatini this morning, where they were remanded in custody until next week Wednesday. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC News reporter, Mthobisi Mkhaliphi.

Democratic Alliance leader, John Steenhuisen says private sector partnerships create jobs, competition, drive prices down and create efficiency within government. Steenhuisen was defending his party's manifesto position on state ownership versus private-public partnership within state entities such as Eskom, Prasa and Denel. As one of the party's seven pillars, Steenhuisen told Sakina Kamwendo that private involvement in state owned entities will get the economy going again.

South Africa's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by a mere 0.1% in the forth quarter of 2023. That is according to figures released by Statistics South Africa on Tuesday, which found that leading contributing industries to the marginal growth were Finance, Real Estate, business services with transport and communication recording the biggest increase of 2.9% in the fourth quarter which equates to 0.2 of a percentage point to GDP growth.  Exports of goods and services increased by 0,6 percent, largely influenced by increased trade in prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco; vegetable products; chemical products; and base metals and articles of base metals. A meeting has been schedule to take place today between the National Director of Public Prosecutions in the Kingdom of eSwatini and the legal representative of the two men arrested in connection with the murder of South African rapper, Kiernan " AKA" Forbes and Tebello Motsoane. Siyabonga Ndimande and Malusi Ndimande are reportedly also wanted by authorities following their alleged involvement in the murder of two other people in Durban between February and March last year. The two are expected to appear before the Manzini Magistrate's court tomorrow. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC News reporter, Mthobisi Mkhaliphi, who is in eSwatini ahead of the court appearance of the accused.

African National Congress Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula says the party is looking into matters of integrity and allegations regarding members who will be considered of the official ANC list possibly headed to parliament. Mbalula was speaking on the sidelines of a ANC National Executive Council meeting which convened in Boksburg, Johannesburg to finalise the party's candidate lists ahead of Friday's deadline set by the Electoral Commission of South Africa. Mbalula elaborates on issues related to the party official list.
