The eThekwini municipality has urged law enforcement agencies not to tolerate acts of lawlessness and criminality during what the metro has called an unauthorised march by some of its municipal workers. About 500 employees have downed tools in the city and marched to the CBD as they demand better salaries and better working conditions. The march comes after municipal spokesperson, Gugu Sisalana told SABC News that workers affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers Union had earlier requested permission for a meeting management between 12 and 2 this afternoon. A children's care center in Vosloorus is on the verge of shutting down unless it receives funding from government. Dzulani Children's Care Center has been a registered NPO since 2017. Children placed at the centre are brought in by social workers by order of the court.  However, the centre has not received any funding from government and none of the children have been approved for social grants. SABC's Kelebogile Botlholo reports.

Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with with the murders of Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and Tebello 'Tibs' Motsoane are expected to appear in court tomorrow. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, has confirmed the arrest. Forbes and Motsoane were killed in Durban in February last year. Mkhwanazi and Police Minister, Bheki Cele, briefed the media in Durban. Police say authorities cannot rule out the possibility of more arrests.

Sasfin Bank has refuted claims made against it by the South African Revenue Service, saying the claims have no merit and will be defended. This comes after SARS  Commissioner, Edward Kieswetter confirmed that following a probe, the entity has served the bank with a civil summons to the value of R4.87 billion. The sum includes interest and costs in the form of damages claim from SARS. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Political Economist, Dale Mckinley.

Home Affairs Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and his department are currently briefing Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs on a range of issues including the establishment of the Electoral Reform Consultation Panel, the progress made by the Border Management Authority and matters relating to the Independent Electoral Commission. During his presentation to the committee, Motosaledi said plans are in motion in preparation for a smooth voting day on the 29th May 2024.

KwaZulu-Natal has recorded the highest number of rhinoceroses poached in the year 2023. This was revealed by the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Barbara Creecy on Tuesday as she briefed the nation on the latest rhino poaching statistics. During her presentation, Creecy revealed that for the period in question, a total of 499 rhinos were poached across South Africa, with the KwaZulu-Natal's Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park facing the brunt of poaching cases, losing 307 of the total national poaching loss. The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse ( OUTA) has reiterated that it will continue with its plan to defend motorists who receive a summons from SANRAL for outstanding e-toll debt. This follows comments by Mampho Modise, deputy director-general of public finance at National Treasury, Mampho Modise, that the Gauteng Provincial Government still plans to collect the e-toll debt from motorists. Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi announced during his State of the Province Address that Etolls will officially be switched off from the 31st of March. The Democratic Alliance's Shadow Minister for Public Service and Administration, Leon Schreiber says the party is taking further legal action against the African National Congress. The DA claims the ANC has failed to produce all records on its cadre deployments. 

The Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services is hosting a two-day conference to strengthen the criminal Justice system,  through the Integrated Criminal Justice System and the Review of the 1977 Criminal Procedure Act. The objective of the conference is to take stock of and reflect critically on the progress in the implementation of the Justice Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) 7-Point Plan. This conference will also provide a platform for robust engagements on the criminal justice system. Deputy director-general of public finance at National Treasury, Mampho Modise, has revealed that the Gauteng Provincial Government still plans to collect the e-toll debt from motorists. Modise confirmed this in an interview with online publication, Moneyweb following an announcement by Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi that E-tolls will officially be switched off from the 31st of March 2024.
