Democratic Alliance leader, John Steenhuisen has called for President Cyril Ramaphosa to immediately dissolve the National Energy Crisis Committee and appoint in it's place, an outside industry expert to oversee the implementation of the energy response plan. Speaking during a media briefing this morning, Steenhuisen reiterated the party's call for Ramaphosa to declare a ring-fenced State of Disaster around Eskom. This comes amid the recent implementation of Stage 5 and 6 rolling blackouts - due to the power utility's severe shortage in generation capacity. The Da-run of City of Cape Town is typically able to protect its customers up to two stages of load shedding where it is possible, primarily through the use of the Steenbras Hydro Pumped Storage Scheme. The state funeral for Britain's longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, is currently taking place at this hour. This marks the end of 10 days of events across the UK since her passing at the age of 96. As many as one million visitors are attending the historic occasion in London. The High Court in Pretoria has ruled that Malesela Teffo is no longer an advocate. Teffo - who was representing four the five accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial - withdrew from the case in July. The Legal Practice Council brought an application before the court for Teffo to either be suspended or struck from the  roll. The council received numerous complaints against Teffo -  some pre-dating the Senzo Meyiwa trial. These include contemptuous behaviour in court and misleading the court. Advocate Teffo had accused President Cyril Ramaphosa, the National Prosecuting Authority and the Police Minister Bheki Cele of being behind attempts to end his career. In handing down judgement, this is what the court had to say.

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has been postponed to November the 14th. Earlier the defence in the case suggested that the hat found in the house in which the former Bafana Bafana captain was gunned down belonged to the witness, Tumelo Madlala and not the intruder. Madlala was being cross-examined in the High Court in Pretoria where five men stand accused of the murder of Meyiwa. A hat was among the exhibits collected in the Vosloorus home of the mother of Meyiwa's then girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo where alleged intruders killed Meyiwa in 2014.  Advocate Makesela Teffo has been struck from the roll of advocates. The Legal Practice Council made an application in early August to have Teffo either suspended or struck from the roll of advocates. The council pointed at a number of complaints pre-dating the Senzo Meyiwa trial was being investigated against Advocate Teffo. It detailed almost two dozen allegations, including disrespectful and contemptuous behaviour in court, misleading the court, assault, and the misappropriation of monies from clients. Senzo Meyiwa's friend, Tumelo Madlala has detailed to the High Court in Pretoria the event of the hours leading up to and subsequent to the shooting death of the soccer star. Madlala was back in the dock today to further give evidence on how the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was shot and killed.  Madlala says there were already people outside the house soon after the incident and those people assisted them in carrying Meyiwa to the vehicle which transported him to the hospital. Meyiwa was shot and killed in 2014 at an alleged robbery. Madlala further said that the father of one of the occupants in the house, Chicco Thwala, later asked Meyiwa's girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo is she didn't want to go on an overseas holiday.

Gauteng police says they are investigating the motive behind the fatal shooting of six people believed to be illegal foreign miners. The bodies were discovered alongside the N1 freeway at the Maraisburg off-ramp in Bosmont. Gauteng police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the bodies were discovered and reported by passersby.  In a seperate exclusive interview, SABC International news Editor Sophie Mokoena spoke to the Leader of the All Basotho Convention party, Nkaku Kabi who says some Basotho nationals who flock to South Africa do engage in illegal mining activities.

The subcommittee of the Portfolio Committee on Communications is undertaking interviews of shortlisted candidates vying for positions within the SABC board. Over 30 shortlisted candidates will be interviewed from today until Friday. This as the term of the current SABC board come to an end next month. The presiding judge in the Senzo Meyiwa trial has ordered that journalists from three media houses leave the courtroom. This comes comes after state raised serious concerns over the heckling of witnesses by some members of the media.
