Democratic Alliance leader, John Steenhuisen has called for President Cyril Ramaphosa to immediately dissolve the National Energy Crisis Committee and appoint in it's place, an outside industry expert to oversee the implementation of the energy response plan. Speaking during a media briefing this morning, Steenhuisen reiterated the party's call for Ramaphosa to declare a ring-fenced State of Disaster around Eskom. This comes amid the recent implementation of Stage 5 and 6 rolling blackouts - due to the power utility's severe shortage in generation capacity. The Da-run of City of Cape Town is typically able to protect its customers up to two stages of load shedding where it is possible, primarily through the use of the Steenbras Hydro Pumped Storage Scheme.
