The close working relationship between the office of the Public Protector and the State Security Agency has come to light at the impeachment hearing of Public Protector, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane. Acting head of corporate services at the office of the Public Protector, Gumbi Tyelela has told the hearing how an official from the SSA was seconded to the PPSA after the then Chief Operations Officer Kennedy Kaposa left. Kaposa left after reaching an agreement with the Public Protector and was paid twelve months settlement to leave. He was initially charged with derelection of duty. The newly elected ANC North West Chairperson, Nono Baloyi has called on party members to unite behind the leadership of the province. Maloyi who defeated the current premier, Bushy Maape for the position of the ANC provincial chairperson, was delivering his acceptance speech at the party's provincial elective conference in Rustenburg. Other members elected with Maloyi, include his deputy Lazzy Mokgosi, Louis Diremelo is the provincial secretary while his deputy is Viola Motsumi. Parliament's Section 194 Committee which is currently probing the Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office, has declined her request for the committee to subpoena President Cyril Ramaphosa to appear before it. Earlier today, former Senior Investigator in the Private Office of the Public Protector, Advocate Nditsheni Raedani, told the committee that former Free State Premier, Ace Magashule and former Agriculture MEC, Mosebenzi Zwane, did not act on Treasury's instruction to  prevent further procurement irregularities in controversial Vrede Diary Project. The Durban Magistrate's court has granted R3000 bail to 20 alleged instigators who have been charged with public violence in relation to last year's unrest in parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. The Hawks say efforts by a multi-disciplinary team led to the arrests in parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, North West, Free State, Western Cape and the Northern Cape.It is alleged that the suspects used social media and other platforms to incite public violence. The attorney for parliament arson accused, Zandile Mafe, has told the High Court in Cape Town that his client is on a hunger strike. Mafe was scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trail conference today but refused to enter the dock from the holding cells. Rand Water says its hard at work with its integration of a newly installed S4 pipeline that will see water disruptions to at least six of Gauteng municipalities. The 53-hour planned water outage began last night as part of Rand Water's strategy to refurbish and upgrade its infrastructure for sustainable purposes. ActionSA president, Herman Mashaba has expressed shock and horror after a member of his family was found brutally killed on Wednesday. Mashaba says his wife's aunt was raped and murdered by two men in North West on Saturday. The body of the 77-year-old woman was only discovered on Wednesday as she lived alone. Mashaba was speaking to the media outside the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court where seven people linked to the gang-rape of eight women last month, are expected to appear. The lead investigator who assisted the Public Protector in the CIEX report, advocate Livhuwani Tshiwalule, says unbeknownst to him, there were changes made to the final report. Tshiwalule is appearing before Parliament's Section 194 committee that is investigating suspended Public Protector, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane 's fitness to hold office. The report had recommended that Absa must repay one-point-125 billion rand for a lifeboat by the reserve bank during Apartheid. It was later reviewed and set aside by the Pretoria High court. Tshiwalule, who worked with the former PP, Thuli Madonsela, on the report, changed jobs in 2017 after handing over a preliminary report to his successor.
