Those who will not be able to make it to the voting stations on Election Day on Monday will have an opportunity to vote this weekend. These are people who may be sick, disabled or elderly and who may be working on 1st of November, who applied to the IEC for special voting. The Independent Electoral Commission says everything is on track for the local government elections on Monday. Special voting will commence on Saturday and Sunday the 30th and 31st of October, with approximately 26-million eligible South African voters. Over 95 thousand candidates are contesting for 10-thousand-500 seats in the country's 257 municipalities. Striking truck drivers have been served with court papers, instructing them to remove the trucks blockading the N10 near Middleburg in the Eastern Cape. The drivers have been blockading the road since Sunday. They are demanding the immediate removal of truck drivers of foreign origin from the country's roads and the verification of their documents. This happens as there are reports that South Africa is experiencing a shortage of experienced truck drivers. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it is ready for whatever avenue former president Jacob Zuma's legal team wants to pursue following Tuesday's judgment in the High Court in Pietermaritzburg. Judge Piet Koen dismissed Zuma's special plea application for the recusal of State prosecutor Advocate Billy Downer. The application was part of the special plea Zuma had entered in the corruption case against him. The Bhisho High court has granted Eastern Cape premier, Oscar Mabuyane and public works MEC, Babalo Madikizela an interim interdict to stay Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's remedial action. This is related to the public protector's report implicating Mabuyane and Madikizela on misappropriation of funds during the memorial service for Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation says no approval has been granted for the demolition of the iconic Eyethu Cinema in Soweto in Johannesburg. This comes after contradicting reports that the structure will be demolished to make way for the erection of a mall in its place. Situated in Mofolo, the cinema was opened in 1969 by businessman and former mayor of Soweto, Ephraim "Mshengu" Tshabalala. The department says an application was submitted to the  Provincial Heritage Resources Authority of Gauteng for the demolishing of the structure but a decision has not be made.
