The Equality Court has declared the gratuitous display of the Apartheid flag as hate speech, unfair discrimination and harassment. The Nelson Mandela Foundation brought the matter to court - stating that the display of the flag amounts to hate speech and unfair discrimination against black South Africans. Lobby group, AfriForum, challenged the move - saying it will violate freedom of speech. South Gauteng Deputy Judge President Phineas Mojapelo says those who display the apartheid flag, deliberately choose to reject reconciliation and their intention is to propagate hateful feelings. The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has reviewed and set aside the findings of Seriti commission. The commission cost the tax payer about R140 million. Civil organisations, Right2Know and Corruption Watch argued that Judge Willie Seriti's 2016 findings misled the public by exonerating politicians and public servants in wrongdoing during the arms deal saga. R2K says it believes the commission was selective in choosing who would testify or present evidence. Handing down judgement, Judge President Dunstan Mlambo said that the commission failed to probe certain pieces of crucial evidence. The New Nation Movement wants to convince the Constitutional Court to change the current electoral system to allow for a more accountable system of government where eligible South Africans can stand for election to the National Assembly and Provincial Legislatures other than through party list. The Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane says she will seek leave to appeal the cost order against her. This come after the High Court in Pretoria ruled that Mkhwebane should pay seven-point-five per cent of the costs in her personal capacity and her office 85 per cent, in the case which relates to her Vrede dairy farm report which was previously set aside as unconstitutional. The Council for the Advancement South African Constitution and the Democratic Alliance approached the High Court to have the report set aside and they also requested that Mkhwebane pay the costs in her personal capacity.

Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) boss Dr Nkosinathi Sishi is allegedly on the verge of signing a controversial multi billion dollar deal. This according to a Daily maverick article. Sishi allegedly unilaterally and secretly negotiated a multi billion rand deal agreement that allows the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) to extract management fees in excess of R400-million for proposing and developing infrastructure projects for Prasa.

Supporters of the axed eThekwini Mayor - Zandile Gumede say the decision by the KwaZulu-Natal ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) to recall Gumede without clear terms of reference in terms of what they are looking for, shows that the former mayor is being persecuted. Their comments, came after the PEC took a decision to recall Gumede and the rest of the Durban metro's executive committee, citing concerns about a lack of service delivery.

A landmark sexual offence case dating back to the 1970's is to be heard at the Wynburg magistrate's Court in Cape Town. Childhood rape survivors Lisa van der Merwe (56) and her sister Claudine Shiels (60) are seeking justice from the courts. Between 1974 and 1979, both sisters were allegedly molested by relatives. The accused, who are sais to be from prominent Constantia family, will appear in the Wynberg Court tomorrow. The sisters say they want an open trial to expose the perpetrators' lack of remorse and give strength to those in similar situations who are scared to speak out. This is the oldest sex abuse case to go to trial in South Africa.
