September 05, 2017Tax Ombud findings NOT systematic: SARS Group Exec, Mark Kingon.SARS has hit back at the Tax Ombud by claiming that only less than one percent of all refunds that it processes have been delayed. This after the Ombud released a report stating that it has received more complaints of delays in refunds in the previous financial year since its office was formed in 2014. The ombud classified the delays as being systemic while SARS believes the delays are an exception rather than a rule. The CEO of the Office of the Tax Ombudsman, Advocate Eric Mkhawane says the scope of the delays varies from corporate millions to a few rands to the man in the street. we speak to Group Executive responsible for Tax Relationship Management at SARS, Mark Kingon who says the the findings by the Ombud are not systemic bur rather an exception to the rule....more5minPlay

September 05, 2017ANC KZN Provincial Secretary Supa Zuma on the passing of #SindisoMagaqaThe ANC Youth League in KwaZulu-Natal has confirmed the death of its former national secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa. The league's provincial secretary Thanduxolo Sabelo says Magaqa died yesterday after succumbing to wounds he sustained when he was shot in an ambush in July this year. Magaqa was a ward councillor in Umzimkhulu. The provincial government has established the Moerane Commission to investigate political killings in KwaZulu-Natal. It will resume its hearings in Durban on the 18th of this month. Police have also formed a special task team to probe a string of political murders in the province.
