IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi has called on his party members not to resort to violence as means to resolve political differences. He was speaking at the launch of his party's provincial manifesto in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg on sunday. Buthelezi says he is aware of what he described as desperate attempts by apparent National Freedom Party members to use the IFP as a scapegoat in its alleged bid to have local government elections posted. The Department of Culture, Arts and Traditional Affairs is closing illegal initiation schools in the North West. A school in Syferlaagte outside Klerksdorp has become the latest to be closed. Five young boys who were discovered in the bushy area were rescued and taken to the hospital before being transferred to a legal initiation school nearby. Sisi Segalo reports

Government says improved relations between South Africa and France will benefit ordinary South Africans. President Jacob Zuma is in the French capital Paris on a two day state visit aimed at advancing economic relations between the two countries. France is currently South Africa's 4th biggest trading partner in the European Union after Germany, the UK and Italy. The threat to children with albinism in uMhlabuyalingana in northern KwaZulu-Natal has forced some families to place them in hiding as fear for their lives grows. This comes after the arrest of a 28 year-old woman while allegedly trying to sell a 12-year-old boy with albinism to a traditional healer for 100 thousand rand at Manguzi in the northern part of the province. In August last year, a 21 year-old woman with albinism Thandazile Mpunzi was murdered for her body parts. Her three murderers - who are currently serving 18 to 20 years imprisonment - admitted in court they procured her body parts for muthi purposes in order to get rich.
