Welcome to Upon Reflection Podcast with me, your open journal, Sarah Noire. In this episode I am joined with a very special guest, Dr Kimberly M Martin, an Adlerian Clinical Psychologist from Indiana. In this episode, I invited Dr Kimberly to support me in providing an expert introduction to Therapy to give more clarity to anyone who would like to have a more informed understanding of what therapy is, how to approach it, and what to expect. Dr Kimberly offers a wide range of invaluable tools, resources and information, from signs that an individual can look out for that it may be a good time to seek therapy or any other form of professional support to the best practice to follow when seeking a new therapist. This episode is especially beneficial for anyone who has reservations about therapy, or is interested in exploring therapy as an option. As someone who has knowledge on therapy, I personally found this episode extremely informative, reassuring and eye opening.

Workshop: Dr Kimberly provides an online workshop ‘Tea and Therapy’ which is designed to Teach, Empower and Advocate. It is held on the last Saturday of every month at 12 noon EST via Zoom. Registration information is available through her website or linktree. Dr Kimberly offers virtual therapy, which is currently only available in the United States for individuals living in Indiana or Virginia.

Welcome to Upon Reflection Podcast with me, your open journal, Sarah Noire. In this episode I share my reflections and current experience and tools that I’m gaining on building resilience and grit during the pandemic. We are experiencing a shared trauma, because that’s what the pandemic has triggered in a lot of us, an emotional response to a tragic event. Although it may not feel this way right now, you will push through, and gain the tools to manage emotionally and mentally, and this too shall pass. At this point in my journey, Grit and Resilience is the running theme, and I’m learning about it, and finding out how I can build my toolkit, will-set, skill-set and mindset to manoeuvre through my life journey. This will be one of many episodes sharing my learning and the resource, tools and processes.

Welcome to Upon Reflection Podcast with me, your open journal, Sarah Noire. In this episode I share my reflections and current experience and tools that I’m gaining on change vs evolution. I feel that there is a negative connotation when we use the word change in relation to our self growth and it implies something is wrong with us, as well as causes us to put a magnifying glass on what isn’t working rather than looking at our journey and ourselves as a whole with both the positives and negatives. Evolution to me is a process that doesn’t punish your journey so far, instead it highlights the benefits of everything you have encountered so far, that can contribute to your growing evolution of self. There is no time limit on evolving, it’s one step at a time, it’s gradual and it’s on going.

Scarcity is all about thinking and feeling you have a lack of something, whether that's love, opportunities, time etc. Believing that if others have, we can't, if they win, there's no rooms for you. I'm here to tell you this is not true because I've lived both sides and whenever I take a dip on the scarcity side, things are never pretty.

Welcome to Upon Reflection Podcast with me, your open journal, Sarah Noire. In this episode I share my reflections, experiences and tools that I’ve gained so far on giving support to others, asking for support from others and how I’m learning to communicate my needs better (not even close to perfect, but progress is progress). It took me a while to accept that people are not mind readers and I should really tell them what I need to avoid any confusion. I’m still learning how to ask for what I need but I’m amazed at how easily my needs get met when I use effective communication!
