Upstate's new chief pediatrician outlines goals for Golisano Children's Hospital

A native of Pittsford, near Rochester, he attended SUNY Stony Brook for medical school and then completed his residency and fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He worked at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., before he became the new professor and chair of pediatrics at the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital earlier this year. Conners has researched the importance of children having "medical homes" to ensure access to good medical care, and he has helped set the standard of care for management of swallowed foreign bodies in children, due to his research on the topic. Conners is the father of four children, including triplets. He talks about the role of the Central New York's children's hospital and some of his ideas for its future., always knew he wanted to take care of children.
