Urban Waves

Today we've got a fresh new track from Ghstalt and invention_, titled "Réunion". The two producers studied music at the same time in University a few years back. After recently reuniting, they decided to work on some music together, and "Réunion" is what resulted. They both share many similar influences, with each independently helping to sculpt the track. The overarching themes the artists sought to evoke with of this piece are the ocean and sea birds, and as you listen, lush chords punctuated by crisp drums make you feel like you are gliding over the ocean, riding the warm air currents into the sun.

"Wander" was influenced by the feeling of having no destination; simply just going with the flow. Declan was spending his time going on walks everyday at the time of making this song, so the tangible act of wandering added to his inspiration. The track is reminiscent of the works of elmo or CYGN with its free flowing jazz chords and rhythmic looping drums, all propelled by Declan's signature bounce and lead solo style. The tune is simultaneously energetic and relaxing, perfect for any situation, from chilling with friends to wandering along an undiscovered path.

Urban Waves presents “Predestination”, a tune by Greek producers aprovoli and drips.zacheer. The duo met as if by fate at a concert a few years ago and kept in touch ever since, finally coming together on this track they felt was predestined to be made. Full of energetic, elevating melodies and driving drums, the tune is sure to set your day at ease.

The day has finally come! Today, Urban Waves is excited to present "International FM (Funk Machine)", the groovy debut LP from Swedish duo Duoya. The entire album was recorded by the two multi-instrumentalists remotely during lockdown, and the duo play together with such taste that you'd never know they weren't recording in the same room. Combining afrobeat jazz rhythms, squelchy synthesizer in the vein of the Headhunters, and their own potent brew of analog funk (complete with horns, vocals, and every kind of percussion imaginable), International FM (Funk Machine) is sure to hit all the right notes. Flexi with the Disco-tech is a very jazzy and funky tune that comes from the Swedish duo Duoya. Part of their up-coming debut album titled International FM (Funk Machine). The song was written and recorded by the two musicians during the lockdown while respecting the social distancing, they were never in the same room. Sending their own recordings back and forth they still managed to make it sound like a whole band was playing the song live.

The song will transpose you on a night club during the 70’s on the lighting up disco dancing floor. Where you’ll be compelled to burst into dancing and showing off your wildest moves.

The full début album by Duoya is now available for pre-order on digital and vinyl editions.

Oil Slick is the first single from the debut album by Duoya. The Swedish duo is formed by Gustav Horneij and Dimitrios Karatzios, known notably for Organic Pulse Ensemble. Their first full length album is dropping early October and is called "International FM" and will be full of Funky, Jazzy and lovely tunes!

Oil Slick is a perfect introduction to the project. Laid back and chill the song is taking you on a stroll in the Islands. All recorded live on multitrack with a mix of vintage and modern equipment the music feels like from a different time. While keeping it pretty contemporary on the arrangements, Duoya has no time boundaries and the song's atmosphere will quickly win you over and give you a breath of fresh air.

Today, Urban Waves presents a special treat from multi instrumentalist ideism, the next installment in our "Parallel Voices" compilation. In ideism's words, the new new single "Echoes" represents his sonic foray into capturing the haunting familiarity of a fading memory. Keenly tracing from the aural palette of his previous work, ideism trades ambient lo-fi beats for wandering cadences and waves of ethereal synthesizers, paying homage to modern takes on jazz fusion a la Kamaal Williams and Joe Armon Jones. Bolstered by an energetic chord motif continually fragmenting and reconstituting itself, and curiously layered with rippling melodies and warping rhythms, the ghostly excursion through the producer and keyboardist's latest single is sure to evoke the texture of illusion.

Since releasing his first project on Inner Ocean Records, Ideism's tracks have featured on compilations from the likes of Black Noise Records, Chillhop, Fuzzoscope, Phonolith, and SVNSET WAVES. As a writer and musician he is also 1/4 of the group Midnight Theory, a groove outfit steeped in the influence of funk, breakbeat, and hip-hop. Tribute to Rei is at the peak of what you would consider the upbeat part of the new album titled “Ereeséon” by Swedish composer Blameful Isles. As soon as you get into the song it will take you on a trip filled with electronic bleeps and enthralling percussions. The song is full of hope and joy with a vibrant organic feel. Tribute to Rei is a wholesome experience that is a great interest catcher for the rest of the album which is truly impressive in its entirety.

Yuki (Kensho) is the second single taken from the upcoming album by Blameful Isles titled "Ereeséon" that will be released this summer on Urban Waves Records.

The beautiful, atmospheric song features composer and violinist Myrthe van de Weetering, who adds in a special touch. The strings and ambience create an otherworldly experience sure to draw you in. As you listen, you’ll be taken by feelings you didn’t know (or forgot) where there in the first place. This track is very emotional and deep, and you’ll soon find yourself enchanted by it's mysterious ways.

We chose to spotlight this track to showcase its beauty and incredible atmosphere, but also to display the broad range of Blameful Isle's sound.

This track also represents a brief period of "quiet before the storm". His forthcoming album contains some of the most up tempo works to date, and we've planned a third single before the final release that will perfectly demonstrate that.
