The McMinnville city council is not happy with the performance of city manager Martha Meeker. In the latest 18-month performance evaluation, provided through a public records request from KLYC Radio, the performance improvement plan cites significant performance issues that must be addressed. The plan also outlines immediate and 90 days goals that Martha Meeker is expected to meet. This improvement plan states that if at any time during this next 90 days, if Meeker is not taking appropriate steps towards improvement, she will be terminated for cause.
Martha Meeker's response states she is committed to learning and growing in her capacity as city manager. But she is asking for more information in the area of email communication and implementation of council policy. Meeker's response is "help me understand where i'm falling short as I am not aware of any instances of this". In the area of leadership. Meeker says she and the management team have made progressive moves in building communication and trust over the last 12 months. Again, she is asking for more details to show here where she is falling short.
In the performance plan, Meeker is directed to not talk to any member of the media without prior approval of an appointed city council member. Our requests for more information, thus far have been directed to the performance improvement plan and Meeker's response.
