SUSPECT ARRESTED IN POLK COUNTY FOR STEALING MULTIPLE VEHICLESNews Release from Polk Co. Sheriff's OfficeOn 11-3-2015 at about 11:25 a.m. the Polk County Sheriff's Office was notified of a stolen vehicle, reported to be a purple 1976 Chevrolet Corvette, from the residence at 9330 Grand Ronde Rd, Grand Ronde, Polk County, Oregon. Deputies from the Sheriff's Office responded to the location and as they were taking the stolen vehicle report they were advised of a stolen vehicle in progress report from the residence at 8253 Fire Hall Road, Grand Ronde, Polk County, Oregon. Deputies from the Sheriff's Office assisted by police officers from the Grand Ronde Tribal Police responded to the Fire Hall Road location where Clifford Sab ey reported that he found a male subject who drove away from his residence in a blue 2001 Dodge Ram pickup belonging to Mr. Sabey. Mr. Sabey gave chase in his white Chrysler minivan and cut off the suspect. Mr. Sabey then confronted the male, who ended up getting into Mr. Sabey's van and attempted to drive away. Mr. Sabey was able to block the van with the Dodge pickup to keep the male from driving off in the van. The man then ran northbound toward the creek on Fire Hall Road. Law Enforcement spread out and searched the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect in the stolen vehicle reports. The male was walking along Andy Riggs Road wearing jeans and no shirt, but he was wet. When confronted by Law Enforcement the man ran. Deputies and Officers chased the suspect north along Grand Ronde road until he was taken into custody. The man was identified as Tanner Abbott, DOB/ 6-21-1984, from Willamina. Deputies interviewed Abbott who admitted that he stole his father's pickup and television from Willamina and driving it to Grand Ronde. He then stole a bicycle from a shed on Grand Ronde Rd and rode it to where he stole the Chevrolet Corvette. He then drove the Corvette to 9615 Grand Ronde Road. He then walked to A Ackerson Road, off Grand Ronde Road, where he stole a white Ford F250 pickup. Mr. Abbott then drove the pickup to Fire Hall Road where he stole Mr. Sabey's pickup. Mr. Abbott gave two fake names to Deputies when he was being interviewed and was found to have arrest warrants for Contempt of Court from Linn County. Mr. Abbott was lodged at the Polk County Jail and charged with the following crimes:* Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (4 counts) * Burglary II * Theft III * Giving False Information to Police * Driving While Suspended (Felony) * Criminal Mischief II
