In this heartfelt episode of Tendrils of Grief, we are joined by Katie, a talented actress whose journey into acting began two years after losing her mother to dementia at a young age. Katie’s role as Denise in Sophie Jones marked the start of a new chapter in her life—one that beautifully weaves together her previous roles as an English major, mother, and portrait photographer.
Katie is widely recognized for her roles as Beth in Winter Island and Sadie in Going Home, seasons 1 & 2. She has earned accolades for her work in award-winning films like Front Porches and the web series Gamer. Katie is currently working on her first feature film, Wake Up Maggie, a deeply personal project and love letter to her late mother.
When Katie isn’t on set, she’s busy capturing portraits, coaching aspiring actors, or creating meaningful content. Outside of her creative work, Katie enjoys practicing yoga, hiking in nature, taking tap classes, and, of course, savoring a good cup of coffee.
Tune in to this inspiring conversation as Katie shares her journey of loss, healing, and channeling grief into art, passion, and purpose.
