  • Jesus the Morning Star! - 2 Peter 1:16-21
Jesus the Morning Star! – 2 Peter 1:16-21
Have you ever wondered why God doesn’t do something spectacular to prove His existence? Something that would remove all of our doubts and silence the skeptics and cynics of today.
Here's why: God wants personal individual relationships with each one of us. But, it’s got to be you who approaches Him, you who repents of any sins and mistakes and confesses, then God will receive you with his grace, love, and forgiveness.

  • The Key - Deuteronomy 30:15-20
Today's message is titled: "The Key"
    Scripture Deuteronomy 30:15-20 (NLT)
Deuteronomy takes us to a very challenging truth: Our world favors and rewards individualism, autonomy, and independence. So much so, that we often don’t see the necessity of connectedness, community, and dependence on God. God talks to us about this not only in the Old Testament, but we also see a resistance, even a flat rejection of Jesus’ teachings in the New Testament and that got me thinking about how we live in our culture, in our society today.

  • Yes, I Am Here - Isaiah 58:1-9a
In today's passage Isaiah reminds us that it is God's approval and not human applause that ultimately counts. Jesus echoed the same call when he urged his followers to go and do - quietly. That the act of prayer, of giving and of self-denial as spiritual practices, are to be done as though we were enlisted in the divine Secret Service (for God's eyes only).

  • Be-Attitudes - blessed by God - Matthew 5:1-12
The sermon on the mount probably covered several days of preaching, but it started with the Beatitudes. Jesus taught the Beatitudes to His disciples, he was trying to help them, the disciples, and us, get a snapshot of the shape of that new possibility that he came to offer us, the Kingdom of God.

  • I will hold my head high! - Psalms 27:1,4-9
I will hold my head high! - Psalms 27:1,4-9
Many years ago at worship in a church in a town far away, we sang a song that was so beautiful it seemed to literally lift our souls and hearts.
That song starts this way: The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid?
There are two words that stand out for me as I re-read Psalm 27: Dependence and fear. Do we fear God? Was Jesus dependent on His Father?

  • The Lord has honored me! - Isaiah 49:1-7
The Lord has honored me! - Isaiah 49:1-7
No matter which generation we belong to or how old we are, this call is for everybody. We were called before we were born. Every single human being was created to be Jesus’ servant. This is something we should remember: it's God who commissioned us to bring light to the nations.
Missionary work today still continues. It is a continuation of Jesus’ great commission (Matthew 28:18-20) taking the light of the gospel to all nations. I have to ask: Do you support evangelism or missionary efforts with your resources? Do you have talents to help spread the message of Christ? God wants each one of us to be involved. He wants us to think about how we can help and act.
