In the Korean city of Busan there is a great creative space for subculture, which opened in 2020 as the first alternative venue of its kind for graffiti, art, music, party, and motorcycles. The SOUTHIAN was founded by JAY and JINU, who have since put their heart and soul into providing a place for free creative expression. Even though there are sometimes problems with the authorities, and they have had to close for a while because some events simply just went crazy, but the two are not intimidated and continue to run the place with full dedication. We talked to JINU about the concept of the space, how it started and developed, and about his unstoppable desire to bring more subculture to the city. At the end of the interview, there are also two short contributions from graffiti artists LAZY and BOTES, for whom SOUTHIAN has become an important meeting place.
