The graffiti artist NICK Z.WOO is active in the South Korean coastal city of Busan, where he not only sprays great works on the walls himself, but also teaches graffiti to others. True to the motto “Each One, Teach One.” He is part of the rebel culture collective URBANSTRIKERS and together with BOHYUNHYANG they lead the Busan Division as their captains. Their local group consists of 24 creative minds at the moment, but it's growing. Part of their agenda is organizing events and projects to promote subculture and creativity around town. In an interview we talked with NICK Z.WOO about his graffiti, the collective and the urban art scene in Busan. Der Frankfurter Künstler SM verschönert Fassaden in der Rhein-Main-Region seit Anfang der 90er mit buntem Graffiti und Portraitarbeiten, oft versehen mit Botschaften gegen Ungerechtigkeit, Diskriminierung und soziale Missstände. Vor fast 15 Jahren starteten MIAMI NEIß und MASEI ONE den ersten Hafen Jam in Raunheim, 2019 kam DJ SAPIKO mit ins Boot und das TEAM ANTIGRAU wurde gegründet, das den legendären Event seitdem jährlich organisiert. Mittlerweile ist ein riesen Festival entstanden und dieses Jahr werden 137 Künstler aus der ganzen Welt erwartet. Am 12. Der Maler und Designer VEDAT KESKIN aka KEEN K, KEEN KING oder KEEN ROGUE gehört zur Frankfurter Graffiti Generation der ersten Stunde und startete mit der Spraydose Anfang der 80er. Mittlerweile ist der Oldschooler international berühmt und hat Ausstellungen um die ganze Welt, seine Botschaft ist aber die gleiche geblieben. In seinen sozialkritischen Werken setzt er sich mit Rassismus und Diskriminierung auseinander. Am 28. Juni hat er uns im Studio besucht und wir unterhielten uns über die Anfänge der lokalen Graffiti und Hip Hop Szene, über seinen legendären Mentor AVNI KOYUN, auch über Schwierigkeiten mit der Justiz und über aktuelle Projekte, wie beispielsweise seine Austellung in Paris. From May 16th to 19th in 2025 the magnificent Sand Festival took place again in Busan's Haeundae beach district. It is one of the world's largest events of its kind, and this year marked its 20th anniversary. Countless artists from all over the world participated, there was an extensive supporting program with music and entertainment, and visitors were also involved through workshops and other activities. The power of sand and remembering what it was like to play in the sand as a child. At the same time, an admiration for the incredibly fantastic sculptures that were created there by high scale artists. We spoke with one of the sand sculptors from Baltimore in the USA named CHRIS GUINTO. The podcast is online!
