We at Valley View are facing a season of growth, spiritually and physically. We are facing important decisions that must be made concerning our future. The first church faced the same unknown and exceptional growth. How did they handle the unknown? How did they make the important decisions that needed to be made?

Nearly 2,000 years later, there are still lessons we can learn from that first church. Through fervent prayer and by direction of the Holy Spirit we can weather the unknown and let Him lead us into the next generation of our church.

The Bible warns against what happens if we fall in love with the "world." But, what do we mean when we talk about falling in love with things of "the world?" It's not necessarily drugs, alcohol, and other immoralities. "The world" can simply be anything that we place above God.

This morning we explored this thought in a message titled A Love That God Hates. In it we examine the idea of "the world," the consequences of loving it, and why it's important not to.

Are you placing God above all else?

King David and a handful of faithful men have been driven from the kingdom by his own son, Absalom. Israel's King, their Champion, has literally been driven to the desert and is in a dark, difficult place in his life. What does a man do in such a situation? How can he possibly worship and praise God while in a spiritual, and literal, dry season in his life?

Psalm 63 records King David's words during this time. It serves as a journal and a window into his heart during this time.

Are you in a dry place spiritually? Are you going through a season of trouble? Maybe it's days, weeks, months, or even years. Even during his hardship, King David was able to lift his hands and praise God. Perhaps you can find the strength to do so as well.
