The Crescent Hotel began as a luxury resort—built on belief in healing, fresh air, and escape. But in the 1930s, that belief was exploited when the building was transformed into a so-called cancer hospital run by a man with no medical training and a dangerous gift for persuasion.

We examine the trial itself: the contested forensic testimony, the autopsy findings, and how wounds described as defensive were interpreted for the jury. We break down the prosecution’s reliance on belief over proof, the misuse of expert testimony, the jailhouse informant who claimed a confession, and the deeply flawed narrative built around Jessie Misskelley’s interrogation.

We also explore how Damien Echols became the symbol of the case—questioned relentlessly about Satanism, the occult, and what he believed, rather than what could be proven.

The episode ends where the trial did: with guilty verdicts for three teenagers—and a death sentence for one of them.

In this first episode of Missing Veil Files, we examine the disappearance of Diana Braungardt, an 18-year-old high school senior who vanished after finishing her shift at a department store in Crystal City, Missouri, on March 11, 1987.

Diana was dependable, routine-driven, and deeply loved. She told coworkers she was heading home to study — but she never arrived. More than three decades later, her case remains open, her family is gone, and the questions surrounding her disappearance remain unanswered.

In Part Two of our West Memphis Three series, the investigation begins to narrow — not because evidence points in one direction, but because pressure demands an answer.

As fear spreads through the town, police shift focus away from overlooked leads and toward three teenage boys who didn’t fit in. We examine early persons of interest, the ignored Bojangles lead, and how a deeply flawed interrogation produced a confession filled with contradictions, corrections, and missing details.

This episode breaks down the interrogation of Jessie Misskelley, including the use of a failed polygraph, shifting timelines, and scene details that did not match reality — all hallmarks of a contaminated confession. We also explore how unverified claims from a jailhouse informant reinforced a narrative that would soon become difficult to challenge.

In June of 1947, ships traveling through the Strait of Malacca received a disturbing distress call from a Dutch cargo vessel known as the Ourang Medan.

The message was brief.
 Fragmented.
 Final.

When a nearby crew boarded the ship, they discovered something horrifying — every single crew member was dead, scattered throughout the vessel. Their eyes were open. Their mouths frozen wide. No wounds. No signs of a struggle. Only terror.

Moments later, smoke began rising from the cargo hold. The rescue crew barely escaped before the Ourang Medan exploded and sank, taking every body, every log, and every answer with it.

What followed was even stranger.

No official ship registry.
 No confirmed cargo manifest.
