Passage: Romans 10:1-4

This seemingly simple passage contains much hope for all

“Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”

“Brothers” = spiritual family

If you are a part of the spiritual family of God you will have desire for your physical family to join too, just as Paul did for his fellow Jews

“Heart’s desire” = burden and hope for the good of the Jews

“Prayer” = God works his will through the prayers of his children

Pastor Timothy shows the misguided zeal of the Jewish people (and the self-righteous in general) in their search for righteousness.

The challenge: “Will you trust him? And, for those who trust him, I hope that you will pray for those who don’t believe– from the Jews and the Gentiles. Pray that people would have eyes to see their need for God’s righteousness and that they would submit to Christ and find eternal life.”

Pastor Timothy shows that the main idea from Romans 9:30-33 is that salvation is by Jesus, not by our effort.

Salvation is through Jesus alone, not by our effort. Will you run in your own strength? Or, will you run to Jesus?

Maybe you’ve been wavering back seeking to find hope in what you perceive to be good circumstances, and you need to remember that Jesus is your hope, not your circumstances. God’s love is great and eternal, and He loves you. You know that because He sent His one and only Son to both die and rise again. Now live your life on the basis of him!

Rejoice! The crucified Son rose from the dead – and, through faith in him, you have hope!

Pastor Timothy shows from Romans 9: 24-29 that God planned to call many undeserving Gentiles and a remnant of undeserving Jews.

“We should be humbled and amazed at our God. We should also trust him. He keeps his promises. Everything he sets out to do, he accomplishes. In addition, we should rejoice in a mercy and grace that can save the worst sinners! If God had not saved us, we would have rejected him forever. But God planned to have vessels of mercy from Jews and Gentiles! Grow in gratitude if you’re a vessel of mercy.”
