Pastor Timothy, with testimonies from several members, shows that our stories aren’t our stories – our stories are God’s stories. He shows our lives as followers of Jesus aren’t isolated books with their own story lines. Our lives are a part of God’s story of redemption. When we sing, we proclaim the belief that our story is God’s story! And someday, we will see how he worked all things together for good for all who loved him and are called according to his purpose.

Pastor Timothy continues the series on Psalms with a challenge. “The congregational singing is a great privilege that God has given to only those who trust Jesus. It’s a privilege that was once not ours when we were bound in our sins. Because of Jesus, its now a privilege that strengths us in faith as we navigate through the questions of our minds and hearts. Will you take up the privilege and sing with your emotions?

Pastor Timothy’s challenge is if you are tempted to simply read your Bible by pointing to a random verse, try something different. Jump into psalms, pray and then gather with believers and sing. Preach to your soul and learn together. Pray that God would sink the truths of the Word into your heart.

Pastor Timothy shows that we need the right theology from the psalms to point us to God’s glory, humanity’s sinfulness, God’s mercy in saving people, God’s grace in giving us obedience and then God’s promises of eternal life. All of these should come together in empowering our corporate praise of the Lord more and more. As we sing this way, God teaches us and unites our hearts to the teaching!

Pastor Timothy raises the question, “Why ought we to memorize and meditate on God’s word?”

1) We can’t murmur God’s Word to ourselves if we don’t know it.

2) It enables us to know more of the greatness of God.

3) Studying the scriptures purifies us.

4) Studying the scriptures leads to results.
