Pastor Timothy spoke on the goal of the MESSIAH, to bring salvation and comfort to the world. Luke 2:22-35

As you ponder God, do you think you are good enough? Or, do you feel the pain of failure, knowing you need God to wipe your slate clean and give you Jesus’ righteousness instead of your own? May we glory in the light of the World – the One who is our joy and salvation.

Pastor Timothy stated that Jesus’ advent grants hope in the midst of death and sorrow and challenges us 1) To Ponder who Jesus is. 2) Ponder Jesus’ courageous willingness to obey the Father. 3) Ponder how great His salvation is for us.

While Israel sat in dark circumstances and trials, God was at work bringing a greater rescue than they could imagine. This rescue did not simply save the Israelites from  their enemies, but it brought rescue to humanity. And this rescue was prophesied to come through a baby whose name is “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

After last week’s message on feasting Pastor Timothy asks, if food compels us to praise God, why do we fast? Shows the already-not-yet of fasting.

Fasting is not commanded, it is assumed, and, fasting can only be effective if feasting takes place.

Pastor Timothy raises the question, “What does the Old Testament tell us The Messiah will be like?” and shares four points.

Will you worship Him? Will you adore Him? He is worthy!

Pastor Timothy gives a stand alone message on Feasting and Giving Thanks.  The Big Idea: We glorify God in eating when we remember and give thanks to God as the good creator.

Eat to the glory of God. Thank God for flavors. Thank God for our meals. But even more, thank God for Christ, and, let food remind you who God is.
