Alive – How to Live in Anticipation of a Miracle

We continue our ALIVE series with a look at the story of a woman of great faith in the book of Acts who died. When the custom was to wash the dead, wrap the dead, and bury the dead within 24 hours, the disciples in Joppa did something uncharacteristic. They didn’t get stuck in despair, hopelessness, or depression. What they did, set the stage for a miracle to happen. What they did brought the power of God into the situation. What they did opened the door for her to be resurrected ALIVE! It’s so easy to get caught up in pain and despair. It’s easy to think change could never happen. It’s easy to get caught up in, “Things are never going to change. This person will never change. This marriage will never change. This culture will never change.” According to the Words of Scripture, the power of the Spirit of God, and faith – that is not true! God can resurrect what has died. God can bring beauty from ashes. When the people of God truly believe that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think, then there will be glory to Him in the church!  I am praying that God will remove in us any despair that says, “This is the way things will always be” and instead be filled with confident hope that God can and will resurrect what has died!Click here to download a PDF version of the sermon notes that can be viewed on any device.

Alive – Calling A Generation To Life

We continue our ALIVE! series with the story of a young girl who had died. She was the daughter of a ruler in the synagogue, who reached such a place of despair that he cried out to Jesus for help. Their step by step journey to the man’s house gives us as the church powerful instruction on how we are to take the Word of Life to a generation dead in their sins. The calling to “Go” is central to who we are as the church. Alive – The Calling of the Church to Speak Life

This Sunday, we continue our ALIVE! series with the story of a young man who was resurrected by Jesus. The young man lived with his mother in a very small, difficult to get to, out of the way town. With direction from His Father and compassion in His heart, Jesus went to a family and city shrouded in death. Once there, He spoke life to the one who had died and resurrection happened! What happened in that small, out of the way town was so powerful that word spread throughout the surrounding region. Viral revival began because one man came alive! Today, we live in a culture shrouded in death. Jesus calls us as the church to do the same as He did. He places very specific people in our path and in our hearts, then calls us to go, be moved with compassion, and speak life! He calls us to go to the only place resurrection can happen – to those shrouded in death! We are called to take the Word of Life to a generation that dwells in darkness.
