VIBES...MOODS & MOVES - Podcast

PART 2.

Here we go! This is my closeout for the Vibes...Moods & Moves Podcast, Season#2, in two parts...again!  The world has yet again changed. And of course I want to talk about it, and I do!

On this episode in Part#1, I talk about why I dialed out for January 2022 and opted to put my energy into what I can control in a world where so much around us feels, and is, out of control. Essentially I landed in the space of putting all of "it" into my work. Something I think we all can do for our own selfcare, self appreciation, and to be apart of what is good in this world...mission and activism in our own ways.

In Part #2, I dive into how I got into my  pride and reflection headspace again this year for Black History Month 2022.  I pay those respects to a few of my childhood Heroes; Black men and women in the Arts and Media of yesterday.

So come through with your tasty beverages, snacks and comfy seats. Let's get into this last chat for Season#2.

As we bid farewell to 2021 and hope for better and brighter days in the new year, I felt it prudent to send this year off with some folly and Toddies!  I didn't want to do it alone. So I got one of my favorite people my Big Sister-Cuz, Bambi Jones, to come sit and chat for another good feels get down Holiday VM&M episode!

Last year was so much FUN that we decided to turn  the shenanigans all the way up this time! We get into not just what we have, and are currently, binge watching and how it makes us feel, but some heavier chat about the connection between what entertainment we consume and its relevance to our world. Speaking of which, Bambi clues us in on the historic moment that happened when Broadway reopened post pandemic lockdown in NYC. Did you know that seven Plays that were written by seven Black Playwrights, were a major part of that reopening? If not, get ready to be in the know! She gets all into it for us! And you can check out my Blog for additional links and info about all seven of the shows.

We had a lot to cover! So much so that this is going up in 2 parts!  Yes,we go deep here and there, but we bring more than enough love and laughter to the party as well. Don't believe me? Check out the VM&M Youtube Channel to see our version of "The 12 Days of Christmas!" featured in the Holiday Shenanigans Episode Preview video. You'll be glad you did!

So grab those tasty hot beverages, preferable a Hot Toddie, and join us for some Holiday cheer!

Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!

It's Thanksgiving Eve here in the states, which means that Holiday Season upon us here, and everywhere else around the world!  As one who has lovingly observed Thanksgiving as a time for family to gather and give thanks for our many blessings; with so much feeling out of control in the world this year I am heavily relying on memories of Thanksgivings past to catch the vibe of the day, and the season. So in true VM&M fashion, I'm bringing you along with me with some chat and happy shares about things that are lifting my spirits, inspiring and encouraging me to stay the course and remain focused on what we can control, our work and ourselves.

I also take a few minutes to highlight a few things that I think are pretty cool, including telling you guys about a great new book of poetry, and essays by a friend and supporter of VM&M! Allow me to introduce  Poet, Curator, Music Journalist,Author ( and more) Mr. Kahlil Crawford, and his new book ORG/\N CITY ( Available online at Barnes& Noble Press and ETSY, this Black Friday, Nov 26th 2021)   And of course I am still at it with "Some things must happen in order for other things to happen..." with another quick inspiring update about Mr.LeVar Burton!

So, grab your tasty beverage and snack. Settle into your comfy seat and come chat!  Holiday Season is here! Wishing you all a warm, healthy, safe, peace filled and happy start to the Holiday Season!

Cheers!

Happy Halloween!  I cut this one close.  But I made it in before the close of October, just in time for Halloween!  Much like S2 EPI 8 last October 2020, where I was horrified by  the state of Social Media at large , and how the "Al's" had been running wild pushing all manner of scary stuff about Politics, Race, and the Covid-19 Pandemic; this year, although I have gotten to enjoy more of my usual Halloween goodness, I remain concerned about the issue. Even more so now that Facebook is pushing even more aggressively to take over the Metaverse. YIKES!

I also have info to share for those who didn't get the Memo;  "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is back! This year and we can all watch it on our local PBS stations!  I also have some updates about my FanGirl moment about ,LeVar Burton, following the Jeopardy debacle. We're going to focus on the beautiful lesson to be learned by how Mr.Burton moved onward and upward from that moment.  And of course, I have to sprinkle a little extra heart to heart about how we all can find the lessons in setbacks, and  move forward with our gifts and talents!

This episode may be late, but its chocked full of VM&M goodness! So much so that I have to bill this as, a double feature, and give it to you in two parts!   So , grab those tasty beverages, your candy buckets and settle into your comfy seats, we've got lots to chat about! Get into it!

Happy Summer ya'll! I'm back!  But before I really get going with Season #2 of, Vibes...Moods & Moves(VM&M), I wanted to take a beat to check in and get caught up.

This season opener episode is being called "The Preamble".  Essentially, I'm going to give you a heads up on what's already new here, as well as what is coming. For starters I have expanded my VM&M Pocket Universe here on the interwebs with a FUN new show that is all about my LOVE of MUSIC!    Mixcloud.com is the home of that new show, VM&M Presents- SOUND CHECK!  I am so excited to share all the 411 with you guys about how and why it exists. And of course, I want you to come check it out! And I explain all of the melodic, sonic, goofy goodness that is that show for me. Pure JOY...Come get some!

Something else that I think we should all check out...Levar Burton on Jeopardy this coming week!!!(7/16 - 7/30) I have a total Fangirl moment about this on this episode! Seriously, this is a happening! And I'm uber excited and I share that excitement and all the cool info during this chat.

And lastly, I also wanted to briefly touch on the "Why" behind this podcast, and how we all need to be getting even more into setting our intentions in all that we do. There are a few running themes that I feel compelled to keep at the forefront of the real conversations here on Vibes...Moods & Moves, whether I go solo or chill and chat here with a friend. To get the ball rolling, I say start with your intentions.   And I get a little into why I feel this is so important on this episode.

So, this one isn't long, nor is it heavy.  But this is from the heart. This is just the warm up for what I plan to make a season full of insight, more honest heart to heart talk, and lots of coffee and laughs!  We're going to get deep into our creative flow and all that feeds it, as well as all that it feeds in us and potentially in the world. We're gonna have a good time! So let's get started!

Cheers to Season #2!☮❤️☕

Happy Black History Month!  In addition to that, I MADE IT! This is the 12th and final episode of Vibes...Moods & Moves of Season #1!  Needless to say, I have a lot to say and some observations, reflections and feels to share with you all.

In the spirit of Valentine's Day ( which was a week ago...) I have to say, I am totally in love with every single person who stepped out into the " interwebs " this past year and shared uplifting and edifying content.  You all are simply the best!

As for me, my Podcast was a little monthly broadcast; and it truly became my "go to" when the News and current events got to be too much and I knew I needed a break. It has also been my public reckoning with my old self who has been chomping at the bit to do some chat in a blog meets radio format, for years!   So of course I decided to go for it in the middle of a pandemic!

As scary as it was, I took comfort in knowing that I wasn't alone in doing so. So many from all around the world created and shared and took to the web, pushed passed their fear (s), frustration with being locked down... immeasurable global grief, and every other emotion we collectively have felt during this past year. I am honored to be just one voice in that mass digital choir of good stuff.

So I close this season with a full one hour episode where I chat about how I can't get into observing Black History Month on social media as it I simply feels void of that something special, the connection and deep reflection. Instead I choose to capture some of the vibe that I am missing from more traditional  ways that I have celebrated Black History Month with friends and family of years gone by. The fix for me during this time when we can't gather at Luncheons, Museums, Performances, Worship Services and such; I'm reading, watching documentaries, enjoying Art  and the Performing Arts online, listening to music and reflecting on my genealogy and my place in it all as I celebrate my African American Pride! ( which I celebrate all the time, but just a lil extra during Black History Month.).

With that said, please join me for this special Season#1 EPI 12, closing episode. Bring your tasty beverage, snack and settle into your comfy seat. This is a true blue heart to heart chat! And I sincerely hope you enjoy it.  And CHEERS to a year filled with connection and to the the next season!  "See" you all March 19h 2020 for the start of Season #2 of Vibes...Moods & Moves!
