This mix is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, or "Forest Bathing". I find this to be such a beautiful concept. It is something that has helped me a lot in my life. There is also a rich and deep Irish mythology surrounding forests and their magical inhabitants. The mix taps into this ancient mysticism as it takes us deeper and deeper into the woods.

This set was inspired by my trip to the Fjords in Norway, where humans are not the master of the world but only fleeting passengers in it. It's where I found a lot of inspiration in my life and music, so I wanted to keep a techno oriented mix as I was very inspired by this magical place. The idea of being close to our source of life, the water, of having a connection with nature where the elements meet each others, being all connected in harmony, what I am trying to transmit in my music and life in a maximum of ways. Lets not forget our place in this world and stay connected to what we really are, citizen of the Mother Earth.

For my Upperberry mix and the unique concept of the series, I was inspired to teleport the listener to a really special and magical place that had a great role in creating the X-Coast universe - the Heroes of Might and Magic game series. Even the first version of the X-Coast island was visualized in HoMM III map editor. Behold - in front of you lies a pretty peculiar landscape. The first hour of the mix features the soundtrack itself, and in the second hour I recorded audio of a gameplay with sfx and atmospheres.

The mix is a blend of new things I've made, and artists that caught my attention. Some things I was listening to in pandemic times and a few things that are very dear to me. I chose to depart from techno halfway through the mix and I got to play some music I don't usually get to play, that inspires me almost endlessly. I wanted to play with the way I mixed it and I chose to use a computer, purists be warned. But this way I can do all kinds of interesting spectral manipulation, I hope to explore this more in the future, as I felt like I only scratched the surface.

To contribute something to the series I recorded a few warmup‘s that I played recently in clubs. I chose the one recorded at my residency club in Cologne - Gewölbe. Beginning with Ambient, building up with Trance and House ending with some 4-to-the-floor tracks. Normally I’m recording mixes with a prepared selection at home, for this one I decided to take a club recording as mixing in clubs is more a spontaneous and energetic thing in comparison to mixing at home. Only Vinyl, like always.
