  • Marriage and Mental Health
Movies are meant to be for conversation. Marriage Story is a movie that opens up the conversation wide. They say that life can imitate art. For writer-director, Noah Baumbach, the journey and therapy that made 2019’s Marriage Story possible – had to have been incredibly difficult. Noah isn’t the only one who can be inspired. The movie, Marriage Story, left me with a question – what is the correlation between our own mental health and marriage or divorce? In this first, of two, part series, we’re sitting down with a marriage counselor to ask just those question. How does marriage positively affect the mental health of a spouse? How do the actions of one affect the mental health of the other? All these questions and more in this intimate episode of Victims and Villains!

  • Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
Once upon a time ago, we weren’t the podcast that you know today. We were just a couple of guys talking about news in the world of fandom. Then, we rebooted our show to talk more openly about mental health. Over 200 episodes later, we haven’t looked back. Reboots are all the craze nowadays, though. We’re sitting down with Mister Crowley artist, CJ Oechsle, to talk about his book and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. A movie which has a lot to say on the state of Hollywood, fatherhood, and more. Also, this episode serves as proof, we promise never to reboot…again!

  • Abar: The First Black Superman - Watchmen, Chapter Six
Watchmen is filled with history long forgotten. The saddest portion of that fact is the history in question is our own. While history has tried hard to hide the blood stains of The 1921 Tulsa Massacre and the optimistic spirits of Black Wall Street – their importance finds new life in the famed DC Comics heroes. Equally, as forgotten, is the place where Angela and Cal find their last name from. In the early 1970s, Blaxploitation found its audience through several new films. One of which was 1977’s Abar: The First Black Superman. While it might be an obscure piece of cinema history, its message in nonetheless relevant to today’s culture. Join us as we discuss the film’s importance, relation to the Watchmen series, its themes and more. Ian Wallace survived our Nicolas Cage November experiment and we once again Face/Off for this timely film review.

The optimistic of prosperity broken. Racial tensions at an all time high and the fall which broke the promised land. Innocent families and legacies forever changed. In this episode, we are sitting down with Scott Ellsworth to discuss the history behind the innocent. Ellsworth is the author of Death in a Promised Land: The Tulsa Race Riot of 1921(http://bit.ly/scott1921). While also looking into how the events have shaped modern day Greenwood, as well as how the shadow of the massacre has impacted the generations that have come since 1921. For the latter portion of this podcast, we’re be sitting down with Adjoa Aiyetoro, a member of the Reparations Coordinating Committee, for Greenwood. • Oklahoma: Watchmen, Chapter Four
While we have been heavily focusing on social justice, racism and our history's relation with the two - we interrupt such justice to bring you the podcast noone asked for. An episode entirely on musicals and 1955's Oklahoma! Within the opening act to Watchmen's pilot, Judd Crawford (Don Johnson), and his wife are watching a production of Oklahoma. Later within the episode, Judd and the Abars (Regina King & Yayha Abdul-Mateen II) are having dinner discussing the production. To which begged the question, why shouldn't we do an episode on the movie? Grab your horses, tune up your vocal chords as we discuss this massively outdated film with Kelly Reynolds from the Boobies N Noobies Podcast. To discuss the lack of diversity, themes, the current climate of cinematic musicals and more!

  • Black Wall Street : Watchmen, Chapter Three
This is the story of Greenwood. A story that thrives on hope, prosperity but ends in tragedy. In its inception, Greenwood’s business district thrived. What makes Greenwood such an important story – isn’t its wealth but to whom those who received the wealth. Only a few years after the abolishment of slavery, African Americans found their way out west & oil found its way to Oklahoma. When the two met one another, oil wasn’t the only thing that was struck – hope was. Founding its own home within the walls of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Greenwood quickly rose to promise. Even being coined by Booker T. Washington as Black Wall Street. This is their story. For this episode, we are sitting down with Dr. Henry McKoy & Dr. Hannibal Johnson to bring to light the significance of this story. While Dr. McKoy is still working on his book, you can pick up Dr. Johnson’s book now by clicking here: https://www.hannibalbjohnson.com/books/

  • HBO (Part One): Watchmen, Chapter One
It is 1985 and Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons are about to completely challenge the medium of comics with a little book called Watchmen. It is 2019 and Damon Lindelof is about to do for television, what Alan and Dave did 35 years ago for comics. Watchmen brought forth some of our history’s ugliest events and dared to shine a light on them. Events that we dared to sweep under the rug. This is the first in a six part series dissecting Watchmen, its’ themes and the lines between fact and fiction of our own history. In this episode, we are joined by Caless Davis of Feelin’ Film to unpack the lasting impression of this important HBO series.
