Topic: Why Christian Daily Devotions Are Needed?

Yes, because devotions are prepared based on the Divine Word of God. Any Devotion shared by anyone to exalt the name of Christ, to glorify His name and build His Kingdom will be certainly blessed and encouraging.

Facing tragedy or life storms of any kind, can be extremely difficult. In the midst of heartache and pain you will find some of these Christ centric devotions helpful.

You may be thinking , I don't know how I ever could go through this crisis. Or you may be suffering with failure, disappointment, suffering, confusion, fear worry, and even anger.

We have shared devotions on how to combat fear, how to deal with depression, how to cope up with failure and anxiety, and how to tackle our rash and harsh mouth.

In our daily devotions it's not always sweet words are used but remind the facts of dangers of unconfessed sin.

When we don't keep away dishonesty, anger, jelousy and hatred from our lives we share Fruitlessnesss and joylessness is what we reap.

The purpose of these devotions are for those to live in Christ and for Christ. And it will provide comfort, strength, Encouragement and healing for all those who need to rise from despair and to move away this trap of sinful world. And finally to build and enlarge the kingdom of God.

Topic: Be An Encourager Like Barnabas. Be A Blessing When You Are Blessed!

Don't hold back when you are blessed and lose the joy of being blessed further.

Barnabas was one of the earliest followers of Jesus and a leader of the early church. He was a Jew and levite from Cyprus. His original name was Joses.

His inspiring story is told in the Acts of the Apostles and he is also mentioned in some of Paul's letters. His life itself is the 'Gospel of Barnabas', apart from four gospels. People could see his life...

Acts 4: 36. Though his earlier name was Joses but he was given the new name of Barnabas by apostles and those who knew him well. Barnabas means, 'Son of Encouragement.' He was a peace maker. He joined the early church at Jerusalem after Christ's crucifixion.

*1st instance of his encouraging act:*

It was Barnabas who was loving and caring. And he stood up boldly to support Paul when he was shunned and refused by the early disciples.

Acts 11:24 to 26: Barnabas was a good man, full of Holy Spirit and of faith.

He took Paul from Tarsus to Antioch and shared with other disciples how Saul met Jesus and his conversion. At antioch they were for a whole one year and many were added to church. It's here the work of Barnabas along with Paul and other disciples in the church at Antioch were first called as Christians.

*2nd instance of Encouragement:*

Acts 15: 36 to 41.When Paul and Barnabas were planning to visit the followers on their 2nd missionary journey Barnabas wanted to have John Mark also with them.

But, Paul refused to take John Mark with them. As he returned back home in the middle of the mission work in their first missionary journey. Acts 13:13.

But, Barnabas took John Mark and separated himself from Paul. Barnabas gave John Mark 2nd chance. And later on seeing John Mark's spiritual progress under Barnabas, Paul himself requested to send John Mark to him.

We see Barnabas who guided and encouraged Paul in his early days, also did not give up on John Mark inspite of his early lapses. Barnabas in one way mentored even Paul in many ways by the kind acts of Encouragement.

Christian tradition holds that Barnabas was martyred at Salamis, Cyprus, though it's not mentioned in the Bible.

Today's need is when you and I are blessed by the Lord, either financially or if we are placed by the Lord in a good pisition, we must understand and be humble to know its by God's grace.

We need to be an encourager and of help to someone in need and don't hold back like a miser when we are in position to help. People or the world will never remember how wealthy you are or what high position you hold, but they remember those who were a blessing to others, who were of of help to those who are in need.

If we are of help to the needy in giving our time and resources we are blessed encouragers in the Lord.

Be a giver and not taker, taker and taker. Deep within we will know, it stinks our life. It neither enhances our name nor we will have the joy and peace and true blessings and testimony like Barnabas.

Help us Lord to be like Barnabas who showed that he is indeed the 5th gospel, the gospel of Barnabas. Help us to lend a helping hand when it's in our capacity and in our reach, so that we are remembered as blessed givers and encouragers when we leave this world one day....

Topic: Our Negative Or Troubled Imaginations Must Not Become Stronger Than Our Faith.

2 Corinthians 10:5.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Broken troubled hearts, disturbed hearts leave us susceptible to runaway imaginations. Vulnerable and hurting, our minds can drive us to worst-case scenarios. We must keep our imaginations in check whether they are within the boundaries of faith.

The Israelites experienced this situation as they prepared to enter the land that God had promised to them for 400 years.

Moses sent in 12 spies to canvas the territory.

1st set of people in Faith: Two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb returned and confirmed that Canaan was definitely a land flowing with milk and honey. They encouraged their fellow Jews to take possession of it because they were “well able to overcome it” (Numbers 13:30). Their imaginations are well within their strong Faith that they can overpower and conquer those giants who live there.

2nd set of people: The other 10 spies verified the beauty and bounty of the land. They too btought fruit of the land. They too say that its flowing with milk and honey.

But their imaginations got the better of them. They proclaimed that the people of the land were like giants, and the Israelites were mere grasshoppers before them. We cannot hope to be victorious over them. Imagination won out over their weak faith.

Depending upon bucket load of problems and challenges that come across in our day to day lives, often times our negative imaginations or fearful imaginations are stronger than our weak faith.

Jerm 33:3: Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

When we keep our imaginations submitted to God and His Word, no heartbreak exists that is too complicated for God to heal. All things become possible to them that believe. He will answer us with great and mighty things that we do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). Take every thought and every challenge and captive to obey Christ.

Help us Lord to strengthen our faith so that when tough challenges we come across in our lives, we develop strong Faith and produce positive imaginations at all times and in any tough situation we come across.

Topic: Following Jesus Christ Is Worth More Than Anything! This Is What Disciples Did....

It is certainly a great privilege and an opportunity to hear the voice directly in person when Jesus came into this world and called few fishermen at the sea of Galilee to follow him.

He came as a mediator, friend, shepherd, and as the light and Saviour of this world.

It must have been awesome to be one of those Galiliean fisher-men who first heard Jesus saying, "Come and follow me."

I still wonder what made them to leave their nets and follow Jesus on His first words to them. Yes, I believe God works mysteriously.

When these fisher-men heard these words of Jesus, they might have surely been as frightened as they were excited when Jesus called them. They could not have understood fully why he singled them out and called them, yet something about Him might have drew them like magnet.

Inspite of the fragile human nature Jesus might have seen their heart, a heart to follow Him.

Without a hint of coercion, he convinced them to leave their boats and their nets to follow Him and become His disciples. Though they could have turned back at anytime , they became so committed to Him they proffered giving up their lives too like Jesus. These ordinary men with the extraordinary risen power of Christ within turned the world upside down. How could they do it? Simple but yet challenging.

They all excepting Judah Isacariot imbibed the qualities of Jesus. Especially after the ressurection of Jesus, we see a tremendous unity of love, caring each other, very unselfish like Christ, enjoying the success of each other. Harmony, oneness and togetherness with unity of love made their work joyful and Victorious in all their work.

Jesus showed them the model of servant leadership. To serve and not to be served. This is the need of the hour.

What does it mean to follow Jesus today? We see after Jesus and His disciples died the faithful work still continues if not by all but by few faithful....

The world has come to know the reality. Wealth, the power, titles does not guarentee peace, joy, meaning and satisfaction in life. Zacheus had wealth, Possession and Power in the society. But he found a void and perhaps could not sleep well because of his sinful deeds which plunged Him into deeper despair. He gave up All his wealth and possessions which He earned dishonesty and taken the call of Jesus, when he heard Jesus calling him, "Zacheus, come down," It was enough for him. He knew the very moment he was transformed and the void was replaced by Jesus. That is the call of Jesus. Not bits and pieces living for Christ and the rest in the worldly things.

For you, what does it means to follow Jesus today. It takes a bold choice. We see several missionaries selflessly came to India and served faithfully unselfishly.

You can hear two inspiring lives of missionaries who along with their children served and died in India. It's an audio in Telugu. A bit lengthy but worth listening to it till the end at one stretch, when you find time.

1 John 4:4

“The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Isia 54: 17.

No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper.

2 Corin 5 17. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation..

Ww are born into a battle. We did not ask for it. We may not like it. But it's the fact. The battle that started before we were born and will continue till we die.. Eternal life or Eternal damnation. We can’t escape the battle between God and Satan, good and evil and hell and heaven.

.

Even people who don’t know , don't like and try to avoid, it exists and no one can escape it!

Because we are talking about God, there’s good news. It’s important to know God and Satan are not equal sides. We don’t have to wonder who’s going to win this war. There is no suspense, no wondering who’s going to be standing at the end. God is far superior in all ways. And the Bible tells us that at the end of this world, God is going to have the last word. One day God will completely wipe Satan out.

Jesus came into this world and saved mankind from Sin and darkness to Eternal path and light.

Jesus came and by His death Satan and it's foes are conquered. His risen power even today has powers to overpower the demonic and witchcraft powers and attacks.

Until then, he allows freedom to us to have a choice of choosing Christ, light and Eternal life or Satan, darkness and it's works and Eternal hell.

If you receive Christ as your Saviour and Lord, you will become His Child and have His power within you.

Lord help us to know and understand, all these pleasures of the world, the wealth and worldly allurments have to be left in this world one day. Nothing can come with us. We can come to your place one we finish our sojourn in this world. Be our Saviour and Lord and help us to faithfully endure and run the race till the end....

Topic: The Gospel Of Good News Of Redemption, Joy And Peace.

Mark 16: 15. And Jesus said unto them, "Go ye into all the world and Preach the gospel to all creation."

The gospel in the most simplest form is the good news that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.

Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God died for our sins, buried and rose again eternally and became triumphant over satan, sins and over death giving eternal life to those who believed.

After Jesus died, the first gospel sermon was preached by Simon Peter in Acts 2nd chapter.

His gospel message has been simple. He shared the crucifixion and the resurrection of Christ.

Acts 2: 21. And it came to pass that whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

2:38: Then Peter said to them, "Repent and let everyone of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The greatest revival ever took place in the world. 41st verse; Then those who gladly received his word were baptized: and that day about three thousand souls were added.

In 4th chapter 4th verse: However many of those who heard the Word believed. The number of them who came to be about five thousand. Amen! The greatest revival ever by the most timid person, Peter. He spoke only about Christ, Christ Christ and His purpose. And revival took shape.

No wasting of time on the pulpit talking self glory, self praise, flattering, and building their own teams and own circles, but only to add and build the kingdom Of Christ which has become the order of the present days.

Even Stephen, the deacon had the joy of sharing Christ and His purpose of coming. Stephen was martyred when he condemned the hypocrisy of the religious leaders.

Power from on high is the Supreme need of today and not the power of self. C G. Finney.

Archibald Brown said, -

"The Gospel is a fact; therfore tell it simply.

The Gospel is a joyful fact; therfore tell it cheerfully.

The Gospel is an entrusted fact; therfore tell it faithfully..

Lord we see the church has halted between Calvary And Pentecost. Help us to use the word Repent Return And Rejoice for the redemption of mankind from sin to light, love, joy and peace...

Topic: Never Give Up When The World Collapses Around You.

Joshua 1:9. Be strong and of good courage 💪. Do not be afraid nor be dismayed. For the Lord thy God is with you wherever you go.

"Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying."

"If you can't fly, then run, if you can't run, than walk; if you can't walk, then crawl; but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.

"When you are going through hell and tough challenges, keep on going. Never never never give up."

When our hearts are shattered by circumstances beyond our control, we must never lose our hope and give up. We have blessed hope through our Omnipitent God and Savior, Jesus Christ. And be encouraged by the verse not to fear nor be afraid.

We see even in the life of David when we read 1Sam. 30: 1 to 5. When David came back to the city of Ziklag, he and his men found out that Amalakites invaded the city, burned it with fire, and taken away all the women from small to big and great, including two wives of David, Ahinoam and Abigail. All were in great distress and people tried to stone David.

David helps us navigate the business of brokenness and the road to restoration. After David took time for tears and mourning, he strengthened himself in the Lord, and inquired for God’s will in his particular situation.

In verse 8, when he asked the Lord if he should chase down the enemy, God responded that David and his men should pursue them. Not only would they overtake the enemy, but they would, without fail, recover everything that had been stolen from them!

David had to act on the instruction of the Lord. That Word was good for nothing unless David was willing to move out in faith to pursue, overtake, and recover all. Moral is prayer alone doesn't help. Action has to accompany our prayers. When I enquire something with someone, they say, "We are praying" but they do not say what they are doing about it.

There is a moment when we wait quietly, in faith, to receive the strength of the Lord. But there is another moment where we hang back disobediently, in fear, because we are too afraid to fight and move on in action.

Perhaps, the broken pieces of our hearts are still shattered and scattered because we have not taken the action that God is prompting. We must take an active role in our healing and purpose.

Faith without action is dead. David pursued, overtook, recovered all, and returned rejoicing. God’s Word had already decided the outcome.

Help us Lord not only to pray but to keep pursuing and keep moving without being standstill till it is accomplished. Help us not to be disheartened seeing the obstacles and hurdles, but looking to the Lord Almighty to move on.....

Topic: Attitude! Attitude Is A little Thing But Makes A Huge Difference. Repentance Is The Best Godly Attitude.

Mt 4: 17 Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

"Your Attitude and not your Aptitude will determine your Altitude"

"People may hear your words, but they feel your Attitude." If they know you do not care for them, how best you speak they will give a deaf ear. Bcoz they already know your Attitude.

"People often want to show what's wrong with you because they can't handle what's right with you." ☹️

"Positive attitude can change the way you see the world and the way others see you."

What is a Christian attitude?

God's Word helps us to navigate life on earth, and show His love to the world. By, focusing our thoughts on what is good, trusting in God, embracing peace, nurturing a cheerful heart, finding joy and sunshine in each day.

Speak Life into your life everyday saying, -

I have a purpose;

I am a masterpiece;

I'm wonderfully made;

God has a great and blessed plan for me..

We are not going to change until our thoughts and attitude change. This is why a daily quiet time is important. The time we spend intentionally, sincerely with a longing desire studying God’s Word and in conversation with him through prayer is the spiritual renewal in our mind. We have to get to know God so we know what he expects from us and desires for us.

Repent means “change of mind” towards godliness and forsaking worldliness, filthiness, and the works of flesh.This is the best godly attitude. It makes our lives move away from barreness and witheredness to fruit bearing and being fresh in spirit and green in life.

The word “repent” is actually a Greek word: metanoia. Metanoia means to change your mind—

to turn from death to life,

sin to forgiveness,

guilt to peace of mind,

hell to heaven.

You turn from “my way” to God’s way.... The most positive change in our life will be when we repent of our sin and turn from regret to forgiveness and peace of mind.

We have to learn to think in new ways about our defects and flaws. That’s a new way of thinking.

You probably never thought of that, but that’s repentance! That’s a change of mind.

We have to change the way we think so we can make the most of our strengths instead. To do that, we “must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had” Can read Philippians 2:5.

God wants us to learn to think like Jesus. How do we do that? Again, it’s a choice. We got to make a choice and say, “Lord, how would Jesus think about this?” The more we fill our mind with God’s Word, the easier that’s going to be.

Help us to know Lord, in You, we are born to win, born to succeed and be fruitful and victorious in all our thought life, conversation and in our deeds.....

Topic : Heart breaks And And Setbacks Decide What We Are And What We Become.

Heartbreak will define us…what we become.

David chose the better way when he was crestfallen and heartbroken. We can read in 1 Samuel 30:6. After his city was burned, David's families were carried into captivity, and his men threatened to stone him. But, David “strengthened himself in the Lord.”

Let us see the life of prophet Habakuk..

He starts his prayer questioning and complaining to God and becomes restless.

Later on after his conversation with the Lord Almighty, he understands the trials and affictions are needed to purify him and the nation Israel from stubborn disobedience and wickedness.

But then, praise God he concludes with the best prayer of faith to praise Him inspite of going through a complaining phase of time questioning God.

Let us read Hab. 3 17-19.....

The decision that we make determines a tragic or triumphant outcome. Sometimes, the most powerful motivational speeches are the ones that we speak to ourselves in our own mirrors.

The Bible encourages us to examine ourselves (1 Corinthians 11:28) – to honestly consider our spiritual, emotional, physical, and relational health.

David rose to his best when he should have been at his

worst. We can do the same like David.

(2 Corinthians 4:8-9):

We can look in the mirror and say to ourselves: “Self, we might be surrounded by bitterness, but bitterness will not get inside of us. We will stay hopeful. We may be pressed, but we are not crushed; we may be persecuted, but we are not abandoned; we may be struck down, but we are not destroyed

We will not give in to anger or anxiety. We will not complain nor cry ; we will shine. As long as we have breath, we will praise the Lord amidst trials we face. In the end we know we will be victors and conquerors.

Help us Lord to understand inspite of setbacks and defeats and derailment in life, we move on steadfastly to praise Him for your goodness and mercies. Like Habakkuk and David help us to strengthen ourselves and rejoice in your praises and move higher....
