Topic: First Love! Is it Still Alive Within? To Fall In Love With God Is The Greatest Romance!

Nevertheless I Have This Against You, That You Have Left Your First Love. - Rev 2:4.

We might lose many things in life, but we need to be gaurded not to lose our First love in Christ!

First love always keeps us alert to sin, always desires to spend time with Christ which gives true joy, peace and victory.

Jesus – the First and the Last, the One Who was dead but now lives forever more, the One Who holds the keys to death and hell – had a message for each of the churches of Asia, represented by seven golden lampstands.

For the church at Ephesus, He had many compliments. He commended them for their hard work, their refusal to quit, and how they would not tolerate evil pretenders. They had been patient and persistent for His name’s sake.

In spite of these admirable traits, Jesus had one thing against them: the Ephesian church had left their first love – their passion and evangelistic zeal. They were busy no doubt in activities of Christ but lost their first love.

Jesus urged the church at Ephesus to remember the height from which they had fallen, to repent, to turn back - to that first precious love, to do the early works they had once performed. Otherwise, Jesus was on His way to j the lampstand from its place.

Do you burn with the same fervor as when you first came to 0Jesus? If we are not eager to accomplish the first works that you once did, we need to repent and turn back to Him.

If we go after worldly things and pleasures, then we have lost our first love. If we no longer desire to spendtime in His presence, then, its a sign we have lost our first love. These are few traits .. 0

Listen to what the Spirit said to the church of Ephesus and what He still speaks today: "for the one who overcomeslll, He will give fruit from the Tree of Life in God’s paradise" (Rev. 2:7).

Zig Ziglar, an American author and a motivational speaker, once said, “Your attitude, and not your aptitude, will determine your altitude,” which throws light on the importance of having the right attitude towards life. 

 

A familiar proverb since early 1800th century says, "Where there is a will, there is a way."

It is true that if we have the necessary skills but lack the positive attitude in life, we will not go far. 

 

Attitude refers to our thinking and our outlook towards life. Some people are pessimistic and when they fail at tasks, they lose hope and give up, whereas others are optimistic, and even when there are obstacles and challenges in life, they do not give up easily. 

 

To succeed in life, we need to be determined to reach our goals, despite the setbacks we may face along the way.

 

Skills and knowledge are important no doubt, but they can be acquired with time; however, attitude is something that is inherent in an individual and it is comparatively difficult to change with time.

"We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus." Let us not be self defeated.

Prov. 23:7. As you think, so you are!

Or what you think you become.

Are you looking for Ultimate victory and satisfaction in your life? The wisest man, Solomon said, Everything under the sun is vanity.

As a man thinketh, so is he. If you keep on thinking of defeat and failure, you will be defeated and be a failure. If you keep on thinking about your sickness, you will become all the more sick.

Let's not accept defeat like King Saul and His strong army and go down in defeat and live a fearful life. Goliath has not defeated them. But, they themselves were defeated.

Oh! Let's not go down in defeat like King Saul and his army. Let's not be people who are beaten and defeated already.

If we are in Christ, and if Christ reigns in our lives, if Christ is the Lord of our lives, we will never be mastered, or to say, we will never be controlled by circumstances or situations in life. And we will never go down in defeat seeing the giants in our life staring at us. The big dreadful giant Goliath looked insignificant and a "nobody" in the sight of David.

No man, no woman, no child, if we have confidence and faith in God and who reigns our lives Like the shepherd boy, David, need never go down in defeat. Never succumb to fear.

Because, we as His children know where to go, what to do, and how to do. Because, you and I are not only conquerors but more than conquerors through Christ Jesus who loved us.

The God of Abraham is still our God, the God of Elijah is still our God. The God who made the iron axe to float or swim is still our Almighty God. The God who supplied the little widow and her son with her meal and her oil is still our Almighty God. There is no uncertainty about that.

We are more than conquerors in the face of tragedy and giant like situation that encounter our lives.

1. Sin by its very nature, has consequences. Gal. 6 : 7 & 8.

2. God uses sometimes consequences to discipline His children. Heb 12 : 5 to 11.

3. Consequences are worst when we continually and wilfully sin. Luke 12 : 47 & 48.

4. Sin is sin. Let us not minimise little sins and overrate big sins. We all need God's salvation. And we are in no place to judge others as if we are perfect. People don't need your condemnation, they need our love. Let's stop judging and start loving. We all have fallen short of God's standards. But His love saved us.

4. But Christ washes away all eternal consequences for those who repent of their sins by loving Him. And gives eternal blessings and life. Rom 6 : 23.

Topic: World Is In Pursuit /Search For Peace In This Peaceless And Violent World.

Everyone, including people who have money, riches and wealth, fame and stature too struggle to find rest and peace in this wearied world.

And everyone strive for one thing more than any other—PEACE.

The reason they seek it is, because there’s no lasting comfort or freedom in their lives inspite of having everything in life. Why we see now and then several film actors who go into depression and attempt suicide, though they have wealth, fame and status? Because they cannot find meaning and purpose, and peace in this disturbed world.

It’s like they are always unsettled and restless. The Bible defines peace primarily in three ways.

Psychological peace - the comfort within.

Relational peace - harmony among humanity.

Spiritual peace - which is between God and man.

The Bible outlines how sin damages or wipes out all three types of peace.

When God created man, he was at peace with God, himself, and everyone else.

However, that peace was lost when he turned against God. Peace can be restored, but we cannot do it alone. God provided a way. Some people say when they drink little or more wine they will have little peace. They think so, but on the contrary it makes them still lonelier and miserable, and further, their health is destroyed.

Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, was sent to this world to take away our sins. He did so by allowing Himself to be crucified, and it was that sacrifice that made it possible for us to have peace again—peace within ourselves, peace with each other and peace with God.

After Jesus died on the cross, He came back to life. That demonstrated Jesus is God, but also made it clear He desires for everyone to have perfect peace.

Jesus empowers each of us to overcome every type of sin. No matter how difficult our situation is, Christ can break through it. But we must first acknowledge our sin and commit to Jesus, then we can have perfect peace and know its meaning.

In John 16:33, Jesus said, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me” To have peace, we must know the One who can give it.

Topic : Fear Part II. Overcoming Fear

"No Weapon That Formed Against Me Shall Prosper." - Isia. 54:17. More Of Christ Lessor Is Fear.

We are not alone in our battles with fear. But, we are able to counter fear, only when Christ is allowed to reign in our lives."

It's because of our intimate relationship with Jesus. In fact earning wealth, power, position and fame with wrong and wicked ways adds more fear, vulnerability and guilt which further adds more anxiety than to a normal person. We cannot avoid this.

But, when we begin to experience His presence in our lives more and more, and live faithfully, fear loses its grip more and more, as we draw closer and closer to the Lord. This is the truth. We see few men of God in this world radiate with such joy, victory and sunshine...

Yesterday we heard in the devotion the first three letters of the acronym of the 5 letter Word - FEARS.

1) F- Face the fear.

2) E- Expect the

resistance.

3) A- Apply the Word.

Today we will hear the 4th and 5th letter. R and S......

4th) R- Recognise the Lord

“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you” (Isaiah 41:13).

For the believers in Christ Jesus, He promised that He would never leave nor forsake us. We are not alone in our battles with fear, as I shared.

In fact, because of our intimate relationship with Jesus—we begin to know His presence and fear loses its grip on our hearts. The Lord is available to help us through scary situations, if we are willing to submit to Him and follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit. The more we practice the presence of God, the less fearful we will become.

5th) S- Speak the Truth

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

No Place for Fear for Bible believing and Bible obeying Christians.

This Christian journey has many peaks and valleys. There will be mountain top experiences of faith that will allow us to soar in spiritual victories, yet there are also valleys of missed opportunities.

Topic : FEAR! Fear Can Be Paralyzing. Those Who Suffer From The Effects Of Fear Have Difficulty In Accomplishing The Purposes Of God’s Calling On Their Lives.

When fear raises its ugly head to intimidate us, we must resist the urge to run and instead turn to face it...

Fear can be paralyzing. Those who suffer from the effects of fear have difficulty in accomplishing the purposes of God’s calling on their lives. They struggle with moving forward when the Spirit says “Go!” and they struggle with remaining in place when the Spirit says “Stay!” Satan always will have the fear option available for every believer who dares to step out in faith to do God’s will. However God hasn’t given His people a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind to do what would be impossible without Him.

Let us focus on the acronym the 5 Biblical ways to gain victory over our fears :

1) Face the Fear

“ ‘But by righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back’ but we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved” (Hebrews 10:38-39).

When fear raises its ugly head to intimidate us, we must resist the urge to run and instead turn to face it. We can deal with it because God who is within us is greater than the devil and anything that comes against us. In order to have the victory, our first response is to pray and ask the Lord for strength through the gift of the Holy Spirit. He will give courage to our soul and vision to our mind to overcome the spirit of fear.

2) Expect the Resistance

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

Just because we deal with fear once, it does not mean that we will never encounter it again. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, scripture teaches us that “When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time” (Luke 4:13). We are not better than Jesus and fear will come back another time perhaps when we are weakened, when we are tired, weary, or not feeling good. The victory happens when we make up our minds to resist a passive approach to fear every single time we face.

3) Apply the Word

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18).

The spirit of fear can’t occupy the same space as perfect love! One will eventually overcome the other. Our love is built up as we read, study, memorize, and obey the Word of God to every area of our lives. No one will ever overcome fear without the love of God expressed through the Scriptures. It’s the truth and love of God keeping His promises that strengthens our faith and we are no longer fearful regardless of the situation.

Topic : Be An Encourager! Paul In His Early Life After Conversion, was Encouraged And Supported By Barnabas When Everyone Were Against Him.

If We Knew The Pains And Sorrows Which Make Life Hard With Whom We Are Tempted To Be Impatient...

1 Thes. 5 : 11. Therefore encourage one another and build each other.

We should learn to look at the faults of others only through love"s eyes , with charity, patience and compassion. We do not know the secret history of the lives of others. We do not know how piercing sorrows have produced the scars which we see in people's souls.

We do not know the pains and trials which make life hard to many with whom we are tempted to be impatient...

If we knew all the secret burdens and the heart-wounds which may carry hidden beneath their smiling faces, we would be patient and gentle with all men.

Let's be an encourager like Barnabas..It was Barnabas who stood with Paul when the disciples refused to accept Paul. It was Barnabas encouragement in the initial stages of Christian life of Paul.

Otherwise Paul would have not written more than half of the new testament and there would been not so many churches had Barnabas encouraged him. With his influence he stood with Paul when disciples opposed Paul and he was the encourager to accompany Paul initially in the missions.

Barnabas had also encouraged and supported John Mark who went back home from the middle of the missionary journey. He pursued with John Mark though Paul opposed. Had he not pursued with John Mark inspite of his earlier mistakes, there would not have been the Mark Gospel for us.

Let's be an encourager in small ways. Who knows? One you helped might become great instrument in the Lord's hand. We never hear after a certain period regarding Barnabas, but his good work continued in the lives of John Mark and apostle Paul.

He loved the mankind and gave His best gift, His only begotten son, Jesus.

John 03:16. For God so loved the world....

Ephesians 5:1–2,

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

The greatest attribute in God is not His power though it is omnipotence; not His knowledge though it omniscience; not His glory though it is burning majesty; it is His love. He is greatest as He blesses and serves. The brightest hour in Christ's is, not the hour of His transfiguration, or of His miracle - working, or of His sublime teaching, but the hour when He hung in the darkness on His cross. Then it was that His love shown out in the most wondrous revealing. We need to remember for ourselves that the greatest thing in the world is love - that serving is the path to highest honour.

FEAR has two meanings. "Forget everything and run Or face everything and rise." The choice is yours.

Many people live in a prison that has no bars, locks, or guards, because they are held captive by the prison of fear! Simply they themselves are chained to self imprisonment. It keeps them locked up, afraid of their own shadow. The list of things people are afraid of is endless:

We go often from feasting to mourning, from celebrating life to processing death. We are self imprisoned by fear because of various problems - financially, physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually.

There are even those who live in fear of what others think of them, never wanting to speak up or be noticed for fear of embarrassment. But it is not God’s plan that we live in fear! Let us therefore declare with our mouth what divine Word of God says:

Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” With Jesus by our side we have no reason to fear!

In Psalm 27:1, It promises “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Psalm 34:7: The Angel of the lord encamps all around those who fear Him.
