On this Thor’s Day, we talked with Author Donald Jeffries. His latest book covers American history from 1776 to 1963. The podcast begins with a general discussion about how doing a consistent Radio show/Podcast reveals the nature of one’s research allies in strange ways. What are some of the “Stars” in the JFK research community really like?
To learn a lot more about the strange reactions to Don’s show “I Protest” you may want to check out his blog, “Keeping It Unreal”.

In this podcast, Chuck and Donald discuss key events that take us from the birth of the nation to the circumstances surrounding the assassination of President Lincoln. Be aware there is much more covered in the book during this time period.
The outline of what is in the first half of his latest book includes a realistic look at the Founding Fathers, examinations of war in American history, The brutality of the Civil War, and Character versus Icon on Abraham Lincoln and his day.
The use of contemporary judgments against and for historical figures is also part of the discourse. Interesting questions about how many Americans have a distorted view of history are raised. Why is the southern political power in the hands of the party that punished the region 150 years earlier?

We look forward to continuing this discussion with Mr. Jeffries and getting from post-Civil War America to about the time of the Kennedy Assassination.
