Viewpoint: Is Singapore’s commute still working for everyone?

Listen Later

Long commutes remain a reality for many Singapore residents, with people living in towns such as Sembawang, Bukit Panjang and Punggol spending the most time travelling to work, while those in central areas enjoy significantly shorter journeys.

As new data highlights where commuters are most affected, it also raises broader questions about how we define accessibility beyond just travel time.

On Viewpoint, Lynlee Foo speaks to Terence Fan, Assistant Professor Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship, Singapore Management University, about what these findings reveal about the daily commuting experience in Singapore and whether being a "10-minute walk" from an MRT station means the same thing for everyone.
