Zain Johnson speaks to Carmen Stevens (one of SA’s first winemakers of colour) who in 2011 she established the Carmen Stevens Foundation. Through this foundation, Stevens provides food to children at schools in eleven communities in the Western Cape, which include Kraaifontein, Belhar and Elsies River. The initiative employs 42 women who prepare the food providing over 25 000 learners from 125 schools in the Western Cape with a nutritious breakfast and lunch.

International Hamburger Day may have gone unnoticed for many as it fell on the eve of our national elections, but the day did prompt Eighty20, South Africa’s leading consumer insights and data science firm, to unpack some interesting insights into the country's fast food dining habits. Using data from MAPS, a nationally representative survey of 20,000 people conducted by the MRF, the report highlights South Africa’s preferred protein choices and the top 10 fast food outlets. The defence in the corruption case of former Sports, Arts, and Culture minister, Zizi Kodwa, has raised concerns about the leaking of documents related to the case.It's understood that a charge sheet and other documents were leaked to the media before Kodwa made his first appearance in court on Wednesday.Kodwa was charged with state capture-related corruption at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge on Wednesday.He resigned from his ministerial position moments after he was granted R30,000 bail.Alpha Ramushwana
