  • EP 39 | The Hip Hop Vegan Movement w/ Chef Ahki
Grueling schedules, late night studio sessions, cheap eats, and "fine" spirits has led to a lot of health problems for many artists within the music industry. On this week’s episode we discuss the impact of veganism within the hip hop community with plant-based celebrity chef, author, and wellness influencer Chef Ahki. Chef Ahki has cooked for many musical artists and is a pioneer of the Electric Food Movement which encourages its followers to eat non hybrid, wild, and alkaline foods. Her mission is to help others live a healthy lifestyle by "cooking to cure". During our discussion, Chef Ahki talks about veganism within music and how this important evolution promotes holistic activism. She even made a cameo in the music video for the viral hit "Vegan Thanksgiving" by Grey, who happens to be a vegan rapper.
Growing up in Oklahoma before moving to Texas (she is now based in Atlanta), Chef Ahki speaks on her Midwestern upbringing and how the family garden influenced her relationship with food. We also talk keeping supportive friends close, the best ways to transition to a vegan lifestyle, and how the chef used to sing back up for Miss Lauryn Hill! She has definitely lived a electric life. To find out more about veganism and the hip hop movement, take a listen to the episode. It is a treat for your ears.

  • EP 37 | Is This Your Queen??
On this week’s episode, we discuss Nicki Minaj’s new album QUEEN. Unlike previous episodes we decided to spice things up a bit. We prerecorded our projections before them album was released. Just our opinions based on her single releases thus far. You know the songs Chung Li and Barbie Tingz. Sounds familiar?? Then we recorded our final thoughts two weeks after the album was released. Since Nicki has been all over the headlines lately we tackled everything! The Chixx disused the controversial Forbes magazine article where writer Bryan Rolli, criticize the album rollout. If you didn’t read the article, he basically read her for filth in the most intellectual way possible. (Yikes!!)
Let’s just say the Barb’s or even Nicki herself may find their way to our DM… Don’t worry we stay ready… (hahaha) But seriously, do you think this album was flop or bop?? Tune in and share your thoughts.

  • EP 34 | Bring The Beef
In the hip-hop industry beefs are just a part of the game. Some beefs are short lived while others last a lifetime... Today, social media ignites more beefs than ever. Do you remember Trigger fingers vs. Twitter fingers? Lol If the answer is yes, then the first two artist that popped in your head is Drake & Meek Mill. That beef resulted in one of the best dis records of all time “Back to Back”.
Unfortunately, Drake didn’t hold the reign for too long once the “Story of Adonis” made its debut. PushaT held no prisoners in this war of words. To celebrate this victory, in this weeks’ episode the chixx discussed this beef and their top three beefs of all time. The conversation got heated among st the ladies as they played a beef trivia game. Especially when it came time to claim the winner of each round. Take a listen to the episode and play along with us.

  • EP 31 | Silence Is The Enemy w/ James Weldon
On this week's episode we interviewed fellow creative James Weldon who is an event curator, producer, and hip hop artist in the Philadelphia area. As you may remember we partnered with him a few months back for his live concert series, The EQ Sessions, which provides a platform for independent artist to showcase their talent. Following the event we caught up with James to discuss his work ethic and how he balances fatherhood, running a business, and being an artist all while working a 9-to-5.
His latest project, Silence Is The Enemy, delves into the topic of mental health and dealing with the tribulations of life. Mental health is often regarded as taboo, especially within the black community, but after dealing with his own bout of depression James realized that staying quiet about it was not the answer. He expressed how creating this project served as therapy for him through those difficult times and hopes that it will encourage others to speak up about it as well.
So tune in to this week's episode and be sure to let us know your thoughts!
