Sunday Greetings Village Church Parents,
This week we are back in Daniel with the Gospel Project Curriculum. Our kids will study Daniel's dream about the four creatures. As stated in one of the leader guides for this week, we have an opportunity to teach our kids that "they will see all sorts of rulers and powers and authorities in the world, but the Bible is clear: God is ruling over them all. The kingdoms of the earth will last for a short time, and the kingdom of Jesus will come and last forever.”
Enjoy!

Children’s MaterialsEaster greetings parents! Our Gospel Project Sunday school curriculum served us up a Christmas lesson this week for some odd reason. Obviously, there's some sort of mistake so I have found two free lessons elsewhere that do a great job communicating the Easter story to our older and younger kids, depending on your family's needs. Please see the links below for some great discussion questions for our older kids as well as a separate link for a lesson and simple craft that you can do with your younger ones.
All the best,
Courtney

Children’s MinistryHey Parents,
The kids will continue in Daniel this week as they learn about King Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The key point of this week's lesson is that God is in control. This is a timely message as we continue to process this pandemic! I personally appreciate the key passage that the lesson suggests we focus on with our kids which is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Lets share with our kids that despite the fact that we do not have ultimate control in life, we DO have agency. We can rejoice, we can pray, and we can give thanks. I don't know about you, but I find more and more that the Lord works more mightily through these postures than he does when I have a desperate hold on the reigns of my life. Lets share this and model this with our kids this weekend with the Spirits help.
Love,
Courtney

Children’s Ministry:Hey Parents!
Well, I hope you’re considering how you’ll incorporate the Gospel Project Sunday school lessons in your weekly worship because these could not be more timely. This week, the kids are to study the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego as they are thrown into the fiery furnace in the book of Daniel. I have included the leader guide (parent, that’s you ;-) and the activity pages for Unit 16. (This weekends story is Unit 16.1). The activity pages are great for our younger children who may want to color in a picture about what they are learning. If you or a neighbor have access to a printer, I’d encourage you to print them out and get to chatting about and coloring in our ancient friends in the fiery furnace. And truly, what better way to encourage ourselves in this difficult time than to remind ourselves, even as we tell our children, that the Lord is able to save us from this fiery furnace we are currently experiencing. Lets keep our eyes on HIM this week! He is worthy of our full attention as we partner with him to navigate this trial together.
Much love to you all. Please email me directly if there are additional and/or specific ways that we can serve your families at this time.
With love and big FAITH,
Courtney

Children’s CurriculumFrom Courtney:
Greetings Parents!
What an odd, uncomfortable time we are in as a church in Atlanta and as citizens of the United States. If you and/or your children are struggling with feelings of anxiety and fear, you are not alone! What you are feeling is completely NORMAL and we are in this together. What an opportunity we have to bring to each other and to our God our fears and concerns. He is faithful to receive our fears. Lets be faithful to bring them to him and to our brothers and sisters.
In light of our current situation, its incredibly timely that our children are to study the story of Ezekiel and his vision of the dry bones tomorrow morning. You can do this with them at home tomorrow when you get up to worship together. The kids are to learn about Ezekiel’s vision of the dry bones in the valley that the Lord brings to life, through Ezekiel. I have just watched the Bible Project video that is linked below and appreciated the content creator’s perspective on what the Lord is saying to us as a church through Exekiel’s vision. As Ezekiel must ask the Lord to bring his Breath to the bones in the valley, so we must ask the Lord to give us his spirit to make us and our communities new and whole and fit for his service.
Below I have included links to the Bible Project video that you can watch with your children or on your own to prepare yourself for a lesson with your kids. I have also attached the links to the Big and small kids videos that explain the lesson along with the PDF of the lesson for both younger and older age groups that you can use to guide yourself and your family through the lesson.
Parents, what an opportunity we have to share with our kids that THE LORD is responsible for breathing life into us and for making us new so that we can serve him and our communities. Please share this with your children tomorrow morning. No matter how exiled we feel in this current pandemic and no matter how incapable we feel in the face of the death and scattered bones around us we can ask the Lord to bring his Holy Spirit to us. We can ask the Lord to make us channels for his service. Lets communicate this to our kids tomorrow together and ask the Lord to help us model such a posture in our families.
With love and care,
Courtney
