A large gathering in the name of Jesus doesn't always indicate spiritual vitality. In fact, most often it represents people's attraction to pragmatism. This is the case today, as well as when Jesus walked this earth. We look no further to prove the latter than when Jesus fed thousands with only 5 barley loaves & 2 small fish. What happens when culture deviates from God's Word? Quite simply, God's wrath! Greek & Roman culture experienced as much due to their deviation from God's moral standard. A sworn testimony is the evidence given by an individual who's committed to tell the truth. The witness stand & depositions are amongst the most common forms of sworn testimony. The Bible is very clear that Jesus is God in human flesh. After having performed miracles, the Jewish leaders were looking to persecute Jesus. Little did they know, because they were looking to persecute the very God they claimed to worship. We all are very familiar with superstitions. From avoiding walking under an open ladder, to the unlucky number 13, we just can’t help ourselves. As Believers, we should not take these things too seriously. We know God is in control of all things and everything happens according to His will. Join us this Sunday as we examine the account of the healing at Bethesda in John chapter 5. We will find that superstition and false religion cannot hold a candle to the power of Jesus. We've all heard the expression, "You gotta see it, to believe it". As this maybe true in this world, it's most certainly not true about salvation. In fact, Jesus Himself says in John 4:48: "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe". These words by our Lord and Savior reflect superficial faith, as we are to believe what we hear about God's Word & His Word alone. An expert witness must have confidence, rigor, consistency, detail, trustworthiness, experience, clear communication, dedication & improvisation. Jesus executed all 9 of these characteristics when witnessing about Himself, to the woman at the well. In the Mid-West, harvest runs from September through October. What a farmer sows in late April, will be reaped during the harvest. As Christians, we are called to sow & reap too. However, we're not all called to farm, but rather harvest the hearts prepared before hand by God.
