Vandals have damaged two power substations in Moore County. Leaving many without power. AP News has more on the story:  

Two power substations in a North Carolina county were damaged by gunfire in what is being investigated as a criminal act, causing damage that could take days to repair and leaving tens of thousands of people without electricity, authorities said Sunday. 

In response to ongoing outages, which began just after 7 p.m. Saturday across Moore County, officials announced a state of emergency that included a curfew from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Also, county schools will be closed Monday. 

“An attack like this on critical infrastructure is a serious, intentional crime and I expect state and federal authorities to thoroughly investigate and bring those responsible to justice,” Gov. Roy Cooper wrote on Twitter. 

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said at a Sunday news conference that authorities have not determined a motivation. He said someone pulled up and “opened fire on the substation, the same thing with the other one.”

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Gov. Ron DeSantis responded to comments made by Disney CEO, Bob Iger. Breitbart reports:  

DeSantis made the remarks during an interview Tuesday evening with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson. 

Carlson set the stage by playing a clip of Iger, who chose his return as Disney’s chief executive in the wake of his predecessor Bob Chapek’s strife-strewn tenure, to offer contrition: “I was sorry to see us dragged into that battle. And I have no idea exactly what its ramifications are in terms of the business itself.” 

“What I can say is, the state of Florida has been important to us for a long time, and we have been very important to the state of Florida,” Iger added during a town-hall event with Disney staffers, as Breitbart News reported. “That is something I’m extremely mindful of and will articulate if I get the chance.”

Survivors of the Robb Elementary school shooting are suing the Uvalde Police Department, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District and others, for $27 billion. CNN has more on the story:  

Survivors of the fatal mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, have filed a $27 billion class action lawsuit against multiple law enforcement agencies in Texas, according to court documents. 

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in federal court in Austin, names the city, the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, the school district’s police department, the Uvalde Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety and a number of persons who are members or former members of the agencies listed as defendants. 

The plaintiffs include parents and teachers and school staff members who were at the school May 24 when 19 students and two teachers were gunned down in adjoining classrooms just a few days before school was to let out for the summer. At least 17 others were wounded.

Balenciaga brand is facing major backlash after they released an advertisement featuring children holding teddy bears that were dressed in bondage. The Guardian has more on the story:  

The luxury fashion house Balenciaga has apologized over adverts that showed children holding teddy bears in bondage gear and others featuring documents about child sexual abuse law as a prop. 

The brand admitted “a series of grievous errors for which Balenciaga takes responsibility” over the now withdrawn campaigns, which have prompted furious criticism online and a $25m (£21m) lawsuit against the team behind one of them. 

The Business of Fashion website has rescinded its Global Award due to have been presented to the label’s creative director, Demna, at its annual gala dinner on Thursday, describing the images as “wholly inconsistent with our values”. The site reported that its invitation to Balenciaga to attend and offer an explanation was declined.

With China implementing new restrictions to battle the Covid-19 pandemic, citizens are protesting the restrictions. CNBC has the story:  

Rare protests broke out across China over the weekend as groups of people vented their frustration over the zero-Covid policy. 

The unrest came as infections surged, prompting more local Covid controls, while a central government policy change earlier this month had raised hopes of a gradual easing. Nearly three years of control have dragged down the economy. Youth unemployment has neared 20%. 

People’s Daily, the Communist Party’s official newspaper, ran a front-page op-ed Monday on the need to make Covid controls more targeted and effective, while removing those that should be removed. 

In Beijing, many apartment communities successfully convinced local management they had no legal basis for a lockdown. That came after more and more compounds in the capital city on Friday had abruptly forbade residents from leaving.

The big picture: The suspect, Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, is facing multiple murder and hate crime charges over the shooting at Club Q last weekend that killed five people, per Max D'Onofrio, a city spokesperson.

Before the shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado, the suspect showed many warning signs. Could this have been prevented? ABC News has more on the troubling past of the shooting suspect: 

The man suspected of opening fire at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado's second-largest city over the weekend was previously arrested in an alleged bomb threat incident last year, ABC News has learned. But authorities said it's unclear whether the state's red flag law could have prevented the mass shooting. 

According to a press release posted online last year by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a bomb threat on Rubicon Drive in the Lorson Ranch neighborhood of Colorado Springs, just south of the city's airport, on the afternoon of June 18, 2021. A woman had called, saying "her son was threatening to cause harm to her with a homemade bomb, multiple weapons, and ammunition," the sheriff's office said. She was not at home at the time and was not sure where her son was.

Elon Musk recently put out a Twitter poll to get a feel for how many people would like Donald Trump to be reinstated on Twitter. Nearly 52% said yes. It appears though, that Donald Trump will stay on his platform, Truth Social. FOX Business has more: 

Former President Donald Trump wished Elon Musk the best with Twitter but stressed he will stay on his own Truth Social, a social media platform he touts as "better," "safe" and that feels "like home." 

Musk on Thursday completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, tweeting before midnight that "the bird is freed" and updating his bio to designate himself as the "Chief Twit." 

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital on Friday, Trump said, "I like Elon and I wish him a lot of luck. I hope he does well with it." 

However, Trump added, "I don’t think Twitter can be successful without me." Should Musk lift Trump’s lifetime ban on Twitter, the former president’s account would technically be active. Trump declined to comment on if he would ever use it again.
