With the interest rate hike set to be announced today, Politico reports that the Federal Reserve has waged a war on inflation, but it could lead straight to a recession: 

“Fed Chair Jerome Powell has pledged to do whatever it takes to curb inflation, a point that he will punctuate on Wednesday when the central bank raises interest rates for the fifth time this year. The job seems nowhere near done, with the costs of everything from health care to rents soaring even as gas prices fall. But the Fed’s policies take time to feed through the economy, meaning the central bank could end up depressing economic activity more than necessary before realizing it, given the sheer speed at which it’s jacking up rates — the fastest pace in three decades.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is now under criminal investigation after the latest Martha’s Vineyard stunt. The Washington Post reports:  

A Texas sheriff will investigate the flights arranged by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to transport dozens of Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, allegedly after making false promises of work and other services. 

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office announced that it had opened an investigation into last week’s incident, in which migrants were “lured from the Migrant Resource Center” in their county — which covers greater San Antonio — and flown to Florida and later on to Martha’s Vineyard, where they were “left to fend for themselves.”

Is the Covid pandemic finally over? According to President Biden, it is. An article from Politico outlines the Presidents conversation on 60 Minutes:  

President Joe Biden said, “the pandemic is over” in discussing Covid during an interview that aired on Sunday evening on CBS’ “60 Minutes.” 

“The pandemic is over,” the president told Scott Pelley as they talked last week at the Detroit Auto Show. “We still have a problem with Covid. We’re still doing a lot of work on it ... but the pandemic is over. if you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so, I think it is changing.”

Christianity could be a “minority” religion by the year 2060 according to a new report by The Daily Mail:  

“America’s majority faith has an uncertain future — the share of Christians is set to fall to as low as 35 percent by 2070 as millions become agnostic, atheist or unaffiliated, a study of religious trends shows. 

Pew Research Center says the number of U.S. adults identifying as Christian has dropped from 90 percent in the 1990s to 64 percent now and will likely trend downwards into a minority faith over the coming decades. 

The decline is due to Christians switching to ‘nones’ — a secular mishmash of atheists, agnostics and those with no religious identity — which is set to grow from about 30 percent nowadays to as much as 52 percent by 2070.”

Freight rail companies and unions have reached an agreement to avoid a strike that could have been catastrophic. The New York times reports: 

“Talks had stalled over a push for companies to improve working conditions, including allowing workers to take unpaid leave to visit physicians. The agreement grants that ability, giving workers one additional paid day off and an ability to attend medical appointments without penalty, labor unions said.”

“Lindell is the latest Trump confidant to have his phone taken: last week the Justice Department seized phones from Trump’s lawyer Boris Epshteyn and Mike Roman, a campaign strategist who directed Election Day operations for the Trump campaign in 2020, according to the New York Times. While gas prices are falling slightly, inflation is still at an all-time high. The consumer price index has reported an 8.3% increase, leaving many Americans struggling to afford necessities. 

The DOJ continues its probe into former President Donald Trump. They have recently subpoenaed 30 more people who have had ties to the former President.  

Vice President Kamala Harris had a recent meeting with Reverend Al Sharpton to talk about the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

The meeting came two months after the groups pressed President Biden for a meeting with them as well as “continued leadership” after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. 

The Reverend Al Sharpton told Politico Playbook that Harris didn’t go into specifics during a 90-minute closed-door meeting with the group leaders but said “there would be more action, and it would be a priority.”

With Prince Charles next in line, he will now become King Charles III. A FOX news article outlines the scene at Buckingham Palace:

He got out of the car to greet well-wishers and look at some of the huge pile of floral tributes left to honor his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Some called “Thank you Charles” and “Well done, Charlie!” as he shook hands with the crowd.
