There's a new Gallup poll on which political party Americans think can better handle the issues that are most important to them. CNN reports:  

This 11-point Republican edge is one of the best they have ever had. Looking at 20 midterm elections since 1946 when this question was asked, only once has the Republican Party had a larger advantage on this question. That was in 1946 when Republicans had a 17 point lead on the Democrats. 

Republicans had a net gain of 55 House seats in the 1946 election. And while the correlation is far from perfect (+0.7 on a scale of -1 to 1) between House seats won by the Republican Party and how they stood against the Democrats on the most important issue question, it is very much existent. 

Take a look at all elections since 1946 in which there was a Democratic president. Republicans ended up with 230 seats on average in the five elections when they led on the question of who Americans trusted more on the issue most important to them. This included 1946 when they won 246 seats. 

Americans are dealing with a recession and inflation. What else could go wrong?

A recent Heritage Foundation study says that Americans have lost $4200 annual income under the Biden administration.  

Heritage experts calculated this shocking number based on different sets of data. Consumer prices have risen 12.7% since January 2021, significantly faster than wages, so that the average American worker has lost $3,000 in annual purchasing power. Further, as the Federal Reserve implements tighter monetary policy to reduce inflation, interest rates are rising. Higher rates have in turn increased borrowing costs on mortgages, vehicle loans, credit cards, and more. The higher interest rates and borrowing costs have effectively reduced the average American’s purchasing power another $1,200 on an annualized basis. 

Also, Vince discusses the latest article on U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker. The Daily Beast reports that Walker paid for an abortion in 2009: 

A woman who asked not to be identified out of privacy concerns told The Daily Beast that after she and Walker conceived a child while they were dating in 2009 he urged her to get an abortion. The woman said she had the procedure and that Walker reimbursed her for it. 

She supported these claims with a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a “get well” card from Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that included an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker.

Many Americans are not happy with Biden’s agenda, and it could lead to a big shift in the political landscape when November midterms roll around.  

James Carville, longtime democratic political consultant, makes some surprising 2024 political predictions. Breitbart has the story:

Vince welcomes Richard Lewelling from The Weather Channel to the program to discuss the damage from Hurricane Ian and the effects its now having on the Carolinas. ABC says Ian could end up costing $65 Billion: 

In all, the economic damage wrought by the hurricane could reach up to $65 billion, according to a projection released on Thursday by data firm Enki Research, which studies the financial impact of storms.

The estimate put the best-case scenario for storm damage at $55 billion, Enki Research said. The projected costs for Hurricane Ian would amount to less than half of the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, which totaled $161 billion.

The government will also be providing support to people with destroyed or damaged homes More than 8,700 people have registered for aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA. On Wednesday, the then-Category 4 hurricane sustained wind speeds of 150 mph as it made landfall on Florida's west coast.

Also, with the cost of living rising steadily, those that live paycheck to paycheck are especially financially vulnerable.

The U.S. just announced that it will provide more aid to Ukraine to the tune of $1.1 billion. PBS has more on the story:  

The U.S. will provide an additional $1.1 billion in aid to Ukraine, with funding for about 18 more advanced rocket systems and other weapons to counter drones that Russia has been using against Ukrainian troops, the Biden administration announced Wednesday. 

The latest package is being provided under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which funds contracts to purchase weapons and equipment. And it brings the total of U.S. aid to Ukraine to nearly $17 billion since the Biden administration took office.

In recent comments, Stacey Abrams says there is no such thing as a fetal heartbeat before 6 weeks and that it is a “manufactured sound.” Fox News has the story: 

Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said Wednesday there is "no such thing" as a fetal heartbeat at six weeks of gestation.  

At an event at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Abrams claimed that the sound of such fetal heartbeats is "manufactured" by men seeking to "take control" of women. 

"There is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks," Abrams, who is running against incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, told the audience. "It is a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have the right to take control of a woman's body."

Donald Trump is currently facing a lawsuit in New York due to reported fraud. The Washington Post reports:  

The lawsuit accuses Trump, the Trump organization and three of his children — Trump Jr., Eric and Ivanka — of business fraud and misrepresenting their finances for personal gain. It also names Trump’s longtime chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, who recently pleaded guilty to tax crimes, and Trump Organization controller Jeffrey McConney. It seeks to recover $250 million and severely restrict the defendants from conducting business in the state moving forward. 

An anti-groomer group, Gays Against Groomers, has recently been banned from using Venmo and PayPal. Fox Business has the story:  

"We’ve never gotten a violation before. They said that we violated, though, their user agreements, which, we’re not sure what in the agreement we violated," Mitchell said. "There was no really detailed message to that. Just the notification that we have been banned." 

PayPal and Venmo did not answer questions about what agreements Gays Against Groomers violated or whether it would be eligible to have its accounts restored. 

"PayPal has a long-standing and consistent Acceptable Use Policy," PayPal and Venmo wrote in a statement to FOX Business. "We take action when we deem that individuals or organizations have violated this policy. Per company policy, PayPal does not disclose specific account information for current or former customers."
