In this lesson study, we are reminded that we follow a Saviour who is relatable because he lived just as we did, suffered the same or greater temptations than us, and yet did not sin and is an all round great example of how we ought to live our lives.

We are reminded that we cannot do this alone, and need to listen to our Shepherd - through reading, studying and living the Word - in order to conquer temptation just as He did!

In the Psalms, the voices of God’s people join as one in

“Not to praise God would mean to forget all His benefits, not to appreciate God’s gifts. Only those who praise do not forget. Thinking and speaking about God is not yet praising Him. Praise begins when one acknowledges God’s majesty and works and responds with adoration of His goodness, mercy, and wisdom.”—Hans LaRondelle, Deliverance in the Psalms, p. 178.

The world has always known pain, unfairness, and people being pushed down. The psalm writers saw it too, which is why their words are like God's cries out against all the violence and oppression happening everywhere, both then and now.

Nowadays, some places have support systems for single parents and kids without dads. These programs give poor and struggling folks a leg up. Governments sometimes pitch in with money too. But the truth is, there's always more need than any system can handle, even within churches. Plus, beyond poverty, there are new forms of hurt like bullying and torture happening all around.

As Christians, we can't ignore the people trapped in these situations. We need to see them, hear their cries, and reach out. We gotta make a real commitment to finding ways to meet their needs and fight for what's right.

We do not need to get deep into the book of Psalms in order to discover that the Psalms are uttered in an imperfect world, one of sin, evil, suffering, and death. The stable creation run by the Sovereign Lord and His righteous laws is constantly threatened by evil. As sin corrupts the world more and more, the earth has increasingly become “a strange land” to God’s people. This reality creates a problem for the psalmist: How does one live a life of faith in a strange land?

So, we all know how dependable God is. In fact, trusting in Him will never leave you disappointed IF you learn to trust in His Will. When we cry out for deliverance, our human minds expect a quick response, or a response in accordance with our timelines.

God's timing is always on time. Time and time again (no pun intended) he has kept His Word for His people. The big question is - how do we acknowledge our trust in him through our actions?
