Autumn spent the past 12 weeks on sabbatical; now she’s back, returning to the rhythm of work and ministry. A ministry sabbatical is a defined season for a ministry leader and congregation to set aside the leader’s typical responsibilities for rest and renewal to effect longevity and sustained excellence in ministry. In today’s conversation, Hunter asks Autumn to share what she’s been doing and learning during her time away.

Christianity feels conceptually and culturally distant from many modern people. They find it hard to understand and believe. This hasn’t always been the case in America but it is more and more so today. What’s caused this and what can we do to bridge the gap? Autumn and Hunter discuss an article published by Tim Keller shortly before his death that breaks fresh ground on these questions.

Hunter and Dave discuss the impact of pastor Timothy Keller (1950-2023) on their own development as pastors. Keller’s ideas influenced a generation of church planters at the time they were starting Fellowship Denver. Hunter and Dave discuss his most influential ideas and where American Church ministry is moving in the generation that follows him.
Autumn and Hunter discuss “revival” or “renewal” and why it’s an important part of Christian life. The term “revival” is often confused with many other things, like “evangelism.” In this conversation, they attempt to define what revival actually is and why it’s important for already-Christians. Topics covered include: the history of revival in America (First and Second Great Awakenings), Jonathan Edwards vs. Charles Finney, John Wesley, Billy Graham, and last year’s Asbury College Revival.
